The bandit is up for sale with quite alot of interest…
Now im looking around for a 400 of some sort, I have now put the idea of a supermoto to the back of my head
A: Because it seems my nieghbour just wants to copy my choice of bike.
2: Because it seems like too much hassle finding one that fulfills all my catagories.
So iv gone back to the idea of an old sportsbike
VFR/CBR/GSXR (400)
And I have found quite a few that I like. but me being me I would want to customise it, and make it “MINE”
So I was looking at the fairing kits. But unfortunetly the bike i like the most (GSXR400 1991) doesnt seem to have a nice new shape fairing kit like the others… or atleast I cant find one…
Anyone got any advice?
My specifications/needs…
Carrying pillion
Reliability
Good handling
Cheap insurance
Looks and sound nice (or as nice as a 400 can)
parts easily found & fairly popular
And maybe a few modification enhancemens still available.
Not sure I understand your reasoning to go to a 400. The increased mpg you’d experience with the 400 would be offset by the increased servicing costs (spare parts and time) as well as probably lower reliability. I wouldn’t recommend the Gsxr range at all, most if not all are sheds now and any good condition ones will have an expiry date on their engine. VFR’s are lovely but expensive and time consuming if looked after properly. I’d just get a super four if I were you and be done with it.hy
My reason for downgrading was im starting a motorcycle engineeringcourse in college nextmonthand i wont be able to afford the insurance…
My old fzr400 cost me about £35 a month I upgraded to the bandit600 and it shot up to £80 a month so now iv looked to downgrade >a supermoto works out about £40 a month (Depending on which one)
I just got a quote for the VFR/CBR/GSXR (400) and theyare the same as my bandit 600
So out of curiosty I checked what id have to pay if i used my old bike again (FZR400) and it would be £85 a month
I don’t know about any of the others but as far as VFR/RVFs go, the NC24 was never officially imported but both NC30 and 35s were! I’ve an inkling that both CBR 400s (NC23 and 29) were officially imported too, but not 100% sure.
