was behind a cage earlier on and driver was on the phone (whats new?), not paying one wee bit of attention to the road and it’s user’s…a near miss-nearly knocked two biker’s off into on-coming traffic whilst he overtook a bus. still carried on-so did we!.
so there he is with the ’ it’s all about me on the road’ attitude, changing lanes, no taking a glance at his mirrors, cutting us all up as he goes along, no sorry, no nothing to correct his actions.
…now there’'s me (driving) and my 2 other colleagues who ended up following in an unmarked mondeo (don’t be silly, i can’t give out the reg!), wearing our police stuff over our plain clothes (you can’t miss us if you look properly in your rear view & stuff).
followed for some few moments whilst we did PNC checks/observed.
eventually during his conversation he got lost in navigation, & decided to U-turn. as he sees me, us, he’s still on the phone-& in a bit of traffic the other way now.
not a care in the world!.
i show my identification and ask him to stop & park up-so with that he just says ‘oh sorry’ and carries on with the conversation-driving off still-thinking it’s oh all ok officer! - (i don’t think so mo-fo!!).
i jump out, as does a colleague, and i manage to get to the keys and remove them from the ignition.
he jumps out shouting back…why did you do that,…
IT WAS AN OVERSEAS CALL!! …:ermm:
somehow he thought those were exempt-especially if it was to the middle east! (yeh right). WTF?!!.
(i wonder which calling card allows a driver to get away with that here!).
anyway, after he knew the bullshit weren’t working, it all ended well,…with a fixed penalty 3 points, £60!.
maybe next time he’ll see the signs to put the phone down & get a warning!.
people driving while on phones!! - they really **** me off!.
