I had an absolutely amazing time at the new Snetterton 300 circuit recently for a track-day Claire bought me for my birthday!
The circuit is bonkers. The bomb-hole and Corum Curve are still for the brave, but the new infield section really flows. I loved it! The S1000RR was a dream as well; I can’t believe how well it handles using the stock suspension. I just dialled in a little more rebound and compression on the forks and left the shock alone.
The Michelin Power Pure rev2 (E type) tyres were faultless and not once did I see the traction-control light come on. I expected them to have a problem with the power as they’re a road tyre, not really made for the track, but they gripped perfectly and were a god-send when it rained for one session. Normally you have to back off so much with road tyres when it rains on track, but the Power Pure’s were awesome, allowing full throttle and max braking near enough.
I had a little bit of brake fade on the fastest session, but put that down to the non-standard pads.
