Going round the greenford round about at 20-25mph and did not see the bloody diesel spill skidd badly and damaged tank, clock cover and bent handles. Two cage drivers helped me. I was in shock for a while.
Called the fire brigade and then saw a police car and they took over the situation. In the meantime further on another scooter also sliped.
As soon as I got up I was worried about other bikers meeting the same fate so started warning riders to slow down but I was in shock my self. Just gutted with the damage. Nasty pain on the right hip. Did not tell anyone at home because they will moan.
Allways carry a bag of sand for such eventualities. Raises your fuel consumption and a few eyebrows but well worth it, only around £4 for a 40 kg bag. Quite a bargain!
Mate, sorry to hear you had a tumble. I hope you and the others are ok? Will you be able to fix your bike or is it an insurance jobby. Looks like we both are having a bad day…
Same happened to me a while back. Get the hip checked out. I thought I’d just bruised mine, but found out it was chipped about 3 weeks later!
There should be some sort of statutory warning at truck diesel pumps that spills kill. Surely the truckers are aware of the consequences? What say thee, truckie people on the forum? Some feedback from truckers who are bikers would be interesting (not that I’m trying to blame you guys for others’ carelessness).
Anyway, hope the bruises heal fast, get some arnica cream because that really accelerates bruise healing. Pity about the bike, but it can be fixed.
Certainly from my experience the biggest culprits seems to be buses. the number of times that I have followed one in the wet and see the little puddles of the stuff being left behind.
i come off that roundabout from a40 going out of town last night to go and get chinese and see a load of sand in left lane near kerb so stayed well clear
to be honest this probably has come from a truck as no buses turn right there neither do the come off a40 to turn right
