Slightly Annoyed

Well I’m pissed off (sorry for the swearing) to say the least. I come off this morning 25-30mph and smashed my bikelucky it was 0700hrs and not many people saw me heh heh.

Heading up Regent St, come round the bend, sun in eyes, didn’t see car - thanks Westminster council for “cleaning” the roads so its nice and wet! pulled the front brake a bit too hard and the front wheel just went.

Quality R&G crash protector did a sterling job I must say, left side damage mirror front end area and rear end area plus gear change peg snapped. Oh well I’m ok which is the main thing just a bit annoyed. Just thought I’d stick this post up to get it off my chest sigh all better now thanks.

Ah Fletch, I’m really sorry to hear that I know how embarrassing it is. Did the gear lever snap off on the arm, or was it just the spiggot? If just the spiggot, you can drill a hole through the arm slightly further up from the snap-off point, and put a bolt through it, to get you going again.

I have a stock 750 indicator if it helps. Did you take pictures of the scene? You might have a case for getting compensation off of Westminster Council for them creating a dangerous environment with the road cleaning. It’s just a thought, seeing as they fleece us silly with stupid parking fines, their coffers are full of our money.

Yes just the spiggot snapped which is quite handy cos I’m at work and we have all the tools here to do the job. The damage is just cosmetic to the fairings only oh plus the left bar end, engine casing and my right mirror broke off on the arm - I think that was me hitting it as I came off,so all in all I was quite lucky.

Didn’t take any pics just wanted to get out of there really, looking back would have been good to get some though and as you said send em a letter complaining and see what would have happened.

Fletch

Cosmetic damage still hurts the soul though! You’ll wince when you look at the damage until it’s fixed You must have hit the right-hand mirror with some force to snap it off, lucky you didn’t break something!

R&G’s are worth their weight in gold, they save so much damage. Oh, if you only scuffed the engine-cover, you can sand it down and repaint it easily, I’ve done this before to my old 750…

Cost about £10 and two or three hours work. Much better than £100 on a new stock cover, and then the fitting time!

Sorry to hear about that mate! It’s funny how things happen…

This morning I had a scare with an idiot ‘didn’t see you’ car driver. Then I was thinking what makes some of us ride everyday the same route and dont allow the boredom get into us and let us riding by ‘automatic pilot’ ? I mean somethines I get so distracted that when I see I’m in the garage of my work. If I’m going to somewhere i don’t know I’m out of confort zone so I have to pay much more attention…

Don’t know if its the same with you but tonight on my way home I will try to be more aware…

Hope your bike and yuo will be fine

Cheers guys, hey Jay my engine cover looks just the same as yours did lol.

Definately be more aware on the way home, probably take it easy… already checked ebay some guy has a L/H rearset and most L/H fairings (obviously had a serious off to the right side) but my bike is black/grey not blue white oh well best start ringing round should be back to normal in no time.

Fletch

Ah, that’s the problem with non blue/white paintjobs, very hard, if not impossible, to pick up second-hand items in good condition. All the best in finding something soon.

OK it just ain’t funny anymore, just got a phone call of the missus “Hi I’ve just been knocked of my scooter” WTF is someone havin a laugh? talk about bad day just under 6 hours till its over can’t wait this must be up there in my all time **** this can’t possibly get any worse days.

And it ain’t even Friday the 13th yet! **** I’m stayin in tomorrow in my helmet and leathers incase the roof comes down or something, mark it in ur diaries - new bad day Thursday the 12th.

At least you didn’t get pulled over twice in one night recently. Hope she’s okay.

Fletch

Sorry to hear of your mishap, glad you are ok though the ego ain’t. Hope that by the time you read this your bike will have recovered…

Jay

What do you mean get pulled twice in one night?

Xbiker.

Cheers, shes OK - 4 hours in Lewisham A&E though place is full of nutters! ur right xbiker twice in 1 night jay damn thats a bit much, they could have been catching the real criminals instead of harassing us bikers.
