silly (?) question

ok

I had my first reactive lens for glasses in 1992 and back then it added $35 USD to the cost of the glasses, you would think by know it would be cheap to put on a visor.

+1

please meet my helmet…

hmm :ermm: not easy to recognise from their website…

thank you for trying…

Yolaah

I have one of the Caberg’s the Jets mentioned - basically when it’s sunny, a second visor drops down inside the first and acts like a dark visor - then at night - just pop it back up  They also do a flip system which is really nice for a hot day and you need to cool your face down.

All in - you can get one for around the £100 - so not the cheapest - but not the most expensive either. Has a 5* safety rating too which is definitely something else to consider as should the worst happen - your helmet is all that’s between you and the tarmac.

Good luck

+1 for the Caberg. Very good, cheap, and lets you ride around at speed with the primary visor open.

Folks with an MX-inspired lid might have a peak they can tip into the sun aswell.

Thank you very much Bluelagos and everybody.Yes, I shall invest in the new helmet…

after all that she’ll go and buy a new helmet!! :stuck_out_tongue: should have suggested shopping from the begining :Whistling:

Panagiotis, it’s because I can’t even figure what model I have, so I cannot buy a pinlock

plenty of helmets out there now with built in dropdown sunvisors Nolan, Caberge, Roof to name a few

  • 1 inch thick black masking tape.

stick to the top of your clear visor.

You can still see out perfectly at night but it creates a shade over your eyes when the sun is shining!

I know lots of advanced police riders and this is what they do.

Thank you

Perhaps I would consider it, but, you know, my Greek friend doesn’t approve the tape (we talked about it earlier :), so I think I will pass :D:D:D

God, this is so entertaining

I don’t know what Panagiotis has against the cheap, effective answer I’ve been using since 1978 when I switched to full face helmets.

I just buy a roll of graded sunstrip, sold for car windscreens, from Halfords and use a small part of a roll to put a graded band across the top of the visor. You can get three or four visors out of one roll @ £5:00 or less.

It won’t effect the visor plastic as there is no adhesive involved and if you do it sensibly your normal eye sight line will be below the lower edge of the stick on shading looking through clear visor. You just dip your head a little when riding into the sun.

You want a pedigree for the idea? I worked it out with the European sports car champion back in the late 60’s. He used it for a few years after before retiring. Worked for him, still works for me.

Yolaah, either your helmet is way too tight, or you have the world’s most enormous sunglasses, or it’s a combination of the two.

Investing in a pair of biker-specific shades should solve your problem. Believe it or not Harley-Davidson shops tend to do very good ones at quite reasonable prices.

Mr Oldguy, I was a bit kidding… It’s not that P doesn’t approve, he only doesn’t find it the best solution…

Eezyrida, hihihihihihihiii, my glassess are not enormous at all, I will try them again with a helmet before I go to work  Just in case they shrinked…

i have no probs with cheap effective solutions!! i love em! i did recommend it but said that i havent tried it for the reasons stated

exactly

M&P or M&S (I can’t remember which) stock the light reactive inserts they have a shop at Fox’s Diner (H’s now) have a look at their website,

If your helmet has two holes already to take a pinlock, - then there is a pinlock suitable for it. Or if you know Southern Cross Motorcycles in Kilburn (opposite Kilburn tube Station), there is a helmet shop beside them that fit’s them to non-standard pinlock visors FREE if you buy a pinlock of him. It’s just a matter of drilling the two holes & he already has the templates. Top bloke as well.

I don’t have his number but Southern Cross should, their’s is 02073281428
