I had my first reactive lens for glasses in 1992 and back then it added $35 USD to the cost of the glasses, you would think by know it would be cheap to put on a visor.
I have one of the Caberg’s the Jets mentioned - basically when it’s sunny, a second visor drops down inside the first and acts like a dark visor - then at night - just pop it back up They also do a flip system which is really nice for a hot day and you need to cool your face down.
All in - you can get one for around the £100 - so not the cheapest - but not the most expensive either. Has a 5* safety rating too which is definitely something else to consider as should the worst happen - your helmet is all that’s between you and the tarmac.
I don’t know what Panagiotis has against the cheap, effective answer I’ve been using since 1978 when I switched to full face helmets.
I just buy a roll of graded sunstrip, sold for car windscreens, from Halfords and use a small part of a roll to put a graded band across the top of the visor. You can get three or four visors out of one roll @ £5:00 or less.
It won’t effect the visor plastic as there is no adhesive involved and if you do it sensibly your normal eye sight line will be below the lower edge of the stick on shading looking through clear visor. You just dip your head a little when riding into the sun.
You want a pedigree for the idea? I worked it out with the European sports car champion back in the late 60’s. He used it for a few years after before retiring. Worked for him, still works for me.
Yolaah, either your helmet is way too tight, or you have the world’s most enormous sunglasses, or it’s a combination of the two.
Investing in a pair of biker-specific shades should solve your problem. Believe it or not Harley-Davidson shops tend to do very good ones at quite reasonable prices.
M&P or M&S (I can’t remember which) stock the light reactive inserts they have a shop at Fox’s Diner (H’s now) have a look at their website,
If your helmet has two holes already to take a pinlock, - then there is a pinlock suitable for it. Or if you know Southern Cross Motorcycles in Kilburn (opposite Kilburn tube Station), there is a helmet shop beside them that fit’s them to non-standard pinlock visors FREE if you buy a pinlock of him. It’s just a matter of drilling the two holes & he already has the templates. Top bloke as well.
I don’t have his number but Southern Cross should, their’s is 02073281428
