Shopping advice

looks like I’m probably getting an unfurnished flat - so need to buy furnishings for a whole flat - for devliery about 3 weeks from now …and put them on a ship - only problem is - I hate shopping…with a passion.

So - ideally just one shop - the kind that does a whole room - got to be cheap too - and able to deliver quick - flat pack could be ok I guess.

I thought of Ikea - but last time I went there I nearly killed myself. What about the furniture places near the Ace - anyone recommend one? Or anyone else who can provide good value? Must be able to deliver too.

Basically need a complete bedroom, living room and dining room. If anyone is in the business and wants to put together a package - pm me:)

Here’s hoping…otherwise all my weekends from now 'til I leave could be spent bleedin shoppinh :w00t:

Ikea FTL

I’m not a fan of Ikea chip board junk.

Mostly, it reveals how I singularly succeed in building a bookcase with 4 wonky corners.

Try www.dwell.co.uk

They aren’t expensive, but they are very very good quality for flat pack stuff.

Try Ikea or Argos. Some of the stuff’s decent enough, especially for the first home. When I furnished my first place (one bedroom flat) about six years ago, I got everything in for about £700. And, when you want to replace it with nicer stuff, the loss won’t be huge, esp if you put it on gumtree.

Oh, just reread your message… You’re putting the stuff on a ship to send where? Can’t you get furniture wherever the flat is based?

IKEA will more than do.

A friend of mine who had some mega expensive Italian kitchen installed in January was told by the installers that no one can beat IKEA in terms of VFM.

Order on line from Ikea, takes the pain out of wandering about that shop. Or go late in the evening, they are open to 10pm some nights.

such low standards!

Wherever you’re going why not buy locally…IKEA furniture though now almost as internationally ubiquitous as Coca-Cola won’t look good or work well everywhere in the world. Depending on which country you’re flat is in it might be cheaper and easier to get a local joiner to make something bespoke and save on the shipping and support the local economy. Order ahead and it could all be ready by the time you get there. Or maybe your flat is on the Isle of Wight in which case scrap that.

funny seeing this post, as im in the same situation in the next few weeks.

my mind has been going into overload looking at stuff, beds, sofas, microwaves, flatscreen tvs, blu ray, cinema sound (i have my priorities )

Try contract furniture companies, they have stuff in stock and can do the whole lot, I have used www.focusfurnishing.co.uk they do from yuck to hey not bad. They deliver and build flatpack stuff hang curtains put up lampshades or whatever they have supplied.

Get Jetstream to make you some bespoke units.

What about ikea in your destination country? At least you wont have the worry of transit damage
