Shaving problem

Hi guys and girls,

I’m getting to puberty…

I was wanting to shave the foam of the bottom of the saddle to reduce the ride height, anyone else ever done this? I was told this should reduce an inch or so from the riding position and being vertically challenged I’ll take whatever I can get :w00t:

Wondered if anyone could help me and has the tools. Also I was wanting to remove the rear footpegs if you knew how to do that.

Cheers for the advice.

what bike have you got? a normal set of spanners shouldn’t be lacking in removing the rear pegs

as far as the seat goes, I’d use an electric sander and a VERY good face mask

I’ve got a 07 R6 and i’m only 5"5 in height :crying:

Was told shaving the seat or replacing all the foam and putting in gel as the solution without messing with suspension.

dont shave the seat…

:Whistling:

:D:D:D

You got a pair yourself? Someone told me about wearing platforms but that’d be too funny.

Do a search for Viking Vinyls on there. Lee the seat does a great job and will have it looking superb as well. Well worth the money.

breadknife, eletric 1 or normal will do the trick

mark out the bits your gonna chop off, also try and cut off at the sides most of the time when ya cant touch ground width of the seat is the culprit, when chopped bits off just get some sand paper and smooth over, use a hard grit then a smooth grit.

it is p1ss easy.

Hi Mate hope all is well your end?

the the rear of your seat there are 2 bolts that can be easily removed with an allen key. Pop the seat off you will be able to see the screws holding the rear pegs on a slightly larger allen key will have them off for you whole job should take less than 5 minutes.

In relation to the saddle shaving, its a pretty lean saddle on the R6 as it is but worts case you could just buy another seat off ebay. I hope the above helps.

also i just finished my exams so back in action will shoot you a PM next time im heading out. Off to the TT this evening  back on the 15th so chat after then.

Alright mate,How’re you? How’d the exams go? All good on my side, been out on the bike a bit. Did you ever have the fairing between below the tank come off? I was on the motorway doing 80 and the plastic bit flew off!! Went to the dealership and apparently it’s a common thing for the post 06 R6s.Cheers for the advice, I’m going to play around with it next weekend hopefully.Hope you enjoy the TT and speak soon.

This is what I did with my old Honda seat, but the knife was not electric. Took the seat height down by about 2.5 cm

Just done this to one of my hornet seats:D taken it down a lot soooooo much better oh and recovered it in white vinyl mmmmmmmmmmm:D
