Servicing at what mileage do you service from new?

Hey guy,

At how many miles do you need to service your bike from new.

The person in the shop told me that the 1st one is at some thing like 3000 or 6000 then how ever may 1000 miles after that but i just cant remember.

Check your owner’s manual - it is specific to each bike/ engine.
Be sure to follow the instructions whilst still in the warranty period.

The 1st service is usually 1000KM/600 miles or a year whatever comes first on 99.9% of bikes.

cool thanks.

This will be dumb but when i feel off and twisted the handle bars/wheels i got it repaired at a local shop. is it safe to say that that would make my warranty void now.

even through it was just a turn wheel back into place job.

crap i just found a note i made of it on my phone, think im over due on my 1st service. 1595 kilometres done.

then its every 5000, and 6000 for brakes, im assuming there miles and not Kilometres.

No, it shouldn’t do. As long as you take it in for regular services your warranty should be still intact.

Also, how are you only getting 70mpg from your Typhoon? Shouldn’t they easily get 90-100mpg? Just check on Fuelly and some other guy is getting 91.1MPG with 100% city driving.

I aint got a clue how it works out. I had problems with that site.

the odometer is in kilometres.

I am on the throttle all the time don’t really let of it and i do a bit of my travel on the A2 as well.

Oh ok… Last time I checked 125ccs shouldn’t be far off 100mpg. Keep an eye on it.

i thought may be just where its new it aint settled in yet. but i could be doing some thing wrong.

I have to fill up every 2 days for a 30-40 mile trip 2 and from work

Hi!

lol

i’ll jump in on this

+2 hey .com

yes guy i’m am guy too

First service is normally 600 miles then the intervals depend on the bike. The Hondas I’ve owned have always been 4000 miles or 1 year.

As for running in, sometimes it tells you on the tank how to run the bike in. Some people don’t rev above a certain rpm, some rev the bike out but don’t give it full throttle. My bike will rev found the clock on 25% throttle, when I was running it in I just didn’t give it full gas. After the 600 mile service I gave it full thottle on the way home from a set of traffic lights. After that I took it straight home and put it back under it’s cover for a week.

LOL hello…

Quick warranty related question, I’ve just noticed I’m at about 7,964 miles. How strict are they on the service periods when it comes to keeping the warranty?

If I can’t get booked in until next Friday and I reach 8,400 miles before then, would they hold it against me if I had a warranty claim?

Tbh if they were THAT strict (I assume not) then I would leave it locked up until I can get it serviced.

Why don’t you use Adz/ He will collect your bike from your work, do the service during the day and before you know it its time to leave work and his dropped your bike off.

Is Adz ‘Honda approved’? Also, the same question still applies.

How much does he charge?

And will that still keep a warranty in tack.

Like Andy im a good few 100 miles over the 1st service time so is there a point in me even taking it to a dealership if the warranty will be void due to the miles.

Plus some ones already opened it to fix the wheel which prob voided it any way.

Give him a call and ask.

I don’t think it’s like a warranty on a TV or phone. Someone else can work on your bike, as long as you meet the requirements set which is usually that you have to take your bike to their approved mechanics at the required mileage/time.

I’ll call Metropolis to check I guess. I’m sure I went a couple hundred over on my Vara and they didn’t seem to mind.

The rules to warranty have changed. As long as you use Honda approved parts and have the work done at a VAT registered garage you should be fine. Check your user manual.
