I finally got around to sending my leathers off to http://www.scrubbersleathers.co.uk/ . Some of you may remember that I put my leathers in the washing machine last year! I should have soaked them as described and then scrubbedāem. They were a bit cleaner and smell quite nice now, but a trip to Marsh Wall in Docklands left them covered in mud which dont wanna come off wiāout some elbow grease. Which I am fresh out of!
Anyways. Scrubbers will be on the job soon, and I am having a quote to re-dye them. Iāll let you know the outcome, as if youāre interested?
This is actually quite interesting, seeing as we have a few peeps in LB that could do with washing their leathers⦠No names mentioned (Andrew and Stevewright )
Go to hein Gericke, buy nickwax leather cleaner (Ā£8) and a nikwax wax leather restorer and water proofer (Ā£5 for a shoe polish like tin) and some sponges and do it ure self.
Wont get ure colour restored but for One peice + boots + gloves + postage both ways its a fair bit cheaper - may not restore the colour but im sure there are products to that.
Failing that a leather restorer in londonā¦there must be oneā¦
Dont get me wrong if I lived in Coventry prob would do it once every 2 years but seems a bit to much at this stage.
I git it from a guy off a Ducati forum whoās a āSpecialistā in Ducati stuff. The parts of my leather that were white need re-tanning. I had meant to do that too but never got around to it.
I used to use that Nikwax about 300yrs ago to w/proof my gloves. Back then it was horrid stuff! I dont have time to mess with trying to clean to this degree and then re-tan my leathers. The only way itāll get done is if I sendāem to a professional.
I think that I could be looking at a 3wk turn around if I go for the re-tanning. The guy says he can only apply 1 layer per day!
Unfortunately they were unable to re-tan the white parts of my old leathers. Thats the part that the colour has come off the most. Damian says that I will be pleased with the result tho. I do hope that he right. The leathers should be back tomo (Thurs)
