Hi Guys , found this on mcn so thought i’d copy and paste it to see if anyone aint seen this yet
It’s 2004 and the brakes on dutch Superstock champion Richard Fluttert’s GSX-R1000 have failed just before a heavy braking area, in this brilliant video
I’d like to know exactly what happened to his front brakes to cause a total failure like that? - he obviously slammed on his rear brake but it was totally ineffectual at the speed he was travelling at.
It’s suprising that they didn’t have a rider friendly absorbent crash barrier on the bend at the end of that high speed straight - particularly when there is road signage, lamposts and trees at the end of the run off area.
If he had hit that lampost/road sign he would have split in two.
Happened to Shane Byrne as well on a Rizla Suzuki GSX-R 1000 a few years back doing 180mph down the back straight at Snetterton. God knows how he survived. Bonkers stuff. In Shane’s case, the pivot pin came out of the master-cylinder lever.
