Saccadic Masking is a problem that all drivers should be aware of

Saccadic masking, also known as (visual) saccadic suppression, is the phenomenon in visual perception where the brain selectively blocks visual processing during eye movements in such a way that neither the motion of the eye (and subsequent motion blur of the image) nor the gap in visual perception is noticeable to the viewer.

Try moving your head around and note how your eyes move. Head smooth movement. Eyes jump point to point along the path.

Funny enough, this is actually part of the BikeSafe course they go into it in more detail and would highly recommend it. 

That actually really opened my eyes up to this one and how actually someone may not have seen me. Learnt a lot in the classroom there…
