I went out for a little play on my Husaberg supermoto after bleeding out the front brake and on the way back popped a wheelie about half a mile from my house near the North End Road, rode back hung a left into my street and stopped at my front door. As i killed the engine i heard a siren whipping past on the main road and had ‘that feeling’. Opened up my door and heard a car come in to the street and stop quickly, so without looking behind me i opened the front door and wheeled the bike in. “Excuse me mate can you come outside please?” Bugger.
Basically i have no idea where they were when they saw me but they were plain clothed and driving an unmarked car and were actually pretty cool. Apparently they are having trouble with kids on scooters committing robberies and they are beginning to use bigger bikes. About 30secs later a second car turned up so i had clearly caused some interest. They weren’t too bothered about the wheelie but i just ate humble pie whilst they ran a check on the bike. They just gave me a verbal warning but said if they caught me again they would seize the bike!
So all in it was a bit of a result and a not bad wheelie either.
Been a top weekend as i went to Silverstone yesterday for F1 qualifying as a guest of Mclaren and got a full pit/paddock tour, ragged up there on the Gix and then got laid last night as well. Might buy lottery ticket tommorrow.
YOR, you lucky bugger. Be careful, we all know Supermotos were made to be on the back wheel, but the boys in blue will relieve you of your license and/or bike for that moment of fun. It sucks. Sounds like you got a good deal and had a great weekend Buy a scratch card for me mate… heheh
Apparently if they are plain closed all they can do is warn you, if they want to take it further then they need to call a uniformed officer, well done any way
I very much got the impression they had much better things to be doing than dealing with me. We have helicopters out a lot round here at the moment and they are chasing scooters/bikes that are being used as getaway vehicles. So if you get seen misbehaving around fulham/west ken/earlscourt/barons court/hammersmith dont try to ditch the po-po as you may well end with a chopper on you and a lot of very serious coppers…
Anyone that try’s to “ditch the po-po” / fails to stop when coppers try and pull them deserves everything they get !
Edited to add … not trying to preach but just be aware of where you’re doing what ! If you get caught, a hands up will be a lot better with possibly a warning / ticket rather than getting a pair of cuffs on, arrested and a free ride to the nearest nick for failing to stop !!
