I was doing my daily commute when I saw a fellow R6. When we both pulled up at the lights he handed me a business card (strange as this doesn’t normally happen). Anyways, I opened the website link and it’s www.RuffRydersUK.com
Has anyone seen them before? I went on the site and the moto seems to be:
I also know a few of them in the UK and in and around New York. To become a member you have to prospect for about 3 months I think (I think the term is hangaround or maybe you hangaraound, then prospect). You have to attend meets and events then after a satifactory prospecting period you become a vested member, meaning you get to wear a leather waistcoat with the Ruff Ryders logo on it. Membership fees are payable by all members.
All of this is huge in the US, and I’m in the minority as an ‘independant rider’ because I don’t wear any motorcycle clubs colours! The clubs here also throw parties all the time to raise money for the club. Lots of clubs are actively trying to recruit me and I have a whole stash of business cards from various clubs but my intention is to stay independant. Most have clubhouses too which are like 2nd homes for many and fully equipped with tv, pool tables, dj decks, a bar and even a dancefloor!!
RR…think it started with Wink1100 out in the US…he was a stunter that bought the first RR video out, then as mentioned you have the record label side of it, peopel liek DMX,Swizz Beats,The Lox amongst others…
as sherrie said they are huuuge in the states…the west coast RR are very very good riders;)
i have chatted to hypa a few times, believe Reds was once a memember of RR before he started his own MC club.
The members are very welcoming lovely bunch of people they meet up the last friday of each month in purley think its the hare and hounds pub its the yellow one lol.
funny you shoudl say that, redz dropped me a post on facebook recently, i replied tonite as the mention of redz reminded me i hadnt replied yet, he said he still has his R1 and that he had started a bike club and that its doing well.
either way i’m not that bothered wether it is or isnt a MC, it looks like a friendly group tho.
believe the meet is purley way, croydon sides, may well pop down to see redz soon:)
I think Shiver is being a tad pedantic with the term Motorcycle Club. Redz has formed a ‘group’ rather than a ‘club’ as forming a ‘club’ has strings attached with the Hells Angels and Outlaws and 3 peice patches or some other crap.
Choprocker - almost every club I’ve come accross over here (and it’s a lot!) hands out business cards. Admittedly, the clubs I come accross aren’t the cruiser type clubs, more into sports bikes but clubs nonetheless.
