Routes

I live in Balham, Sarf London. I mainly use my Bandit to commute to W14 but I thought I’d make the most of the nice weather today and go for a ride. That’s all I could find was residential suburbia and some slightly quicker A and B roads.

Anyone local know of a decent set of roads I can use? To be fair, even though I’ve lived in SW London for 5 years, my knowledge of the area isn’t fantastic aside from the main roads.

I’m ideally looking for a few faster A roads, but really, some fun twisties. I appreciate it may be a bit of a ride before I get to anywhere approaching half decent fun, but any contributions to routes would help.

Thanks.

Suggestion 1 - Get beyond the M25 as quickly as possible.

Suggestion 2 - Get on the A3 at Wandsworth and not getting off it until at least Esher.

Suggestion 3 - The A24 runs past the Box Hill cafe just before Dorking. There are good roads starting there.

Suggestion 4 - Join Elad’s confidence run - which will explore some of the routes to and round Box Hill.

Just get a map of South East England, ride til you get lost and use the map to get home.

Suppose it depends what you want.

My favourite is to explore the white roads on the map of Kent and Sussex. Once you’ve got poroperly lost, a cheap compass can be handy for finding the route to a main road.

Do start out with a full tank of petrol though. The gas stations can be few and far between once into the proper boondocks, sorry, fund manager’s areas.

Yup they have to use half a tank of petrol in their 4x4/executive sledge to get to where they can fill up then half a tank to get back…etc etc ad infinitum.
