Route 66 - Crossing America

Anybody been inspired by Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper and criss crossed the US on a Harley (e.g. from East to West, or the West Coast, or New England in the autumn)?
I have been looking into such a trip and thought it might be fun to do this with a few friends and have some friends/family accompany in a Winnebago (US Style mobile home).

Anybody who has any experience in this sort of adventure?

Thanks

Atlanta to Florida Keys is a better bet as the Route 66 is no more…there is only some of it left but the majority doesnt exist anymore !!

Get on Highway 75 and open that baby up large !!!

Taking in the best of the East Coast !!

Na, the Pan American, 16,000 miles from Alaska to Chile

Now that’s what I call a road trip!

Hi mate - good to meet you - funnily enough I’m mid planning for a nice long run - but unfortunately it’s over to Russia - not America!

Would love to do something like that though - how cool!

Ditto

I was thinking of doing that three years ago but in a car. had it all planned and deposited on - then work came up…

if you want i could have a look and see if i still have that info anywhere?

That would be very cool!

Crossing America though… wow what a trip! Especially on a Harley - no good if you like twisties though!

I did a road trip with the wife a few years ago but in a convertible.

We started in LA and drove up the Big Sur to San Francisco (absolutely stunning scenery)

We then headed to Yosemite park (most beautiful place on earth) and then to Las Vegas via Death Valley (damn that’s HOT).

Then headed to Palm Springs and back to LA

I was banned from continually saying “I wish i could do this on the Bike” but did meet some great Hells Angels who were cool and very friendly.

This is a relatively short trip but well worth while and can be extended by taking in more sights

Give me a shout if you want a chat about it but i would go in a second if i was allowed

I have a friend who is supposed to riding through Namibia, all the way to Cape Town. Trip planned for October.

Riding through America, especially all the way up the East Coast does sound good.

I cannot die before do the 66 from beginning to the end! I’d love that

I drove from san fransico via yosemite, death valley, and finished in las vegas and america is a land of big contrasts, if your poor in the states you have got nothing, but if your rich living the american dream then you seem to have everything!

good to know, wasn’t aware of that.
thanks

That is a seriously sexy trip. So all you need to do this Pan American is :
No wife, no kids, no girlfriend (or an extremely patient one)
no job that requires you to show up in the next two years
enough dosh in the bank to make your bank manager envious
a mate who is in the same situation.
Should be do-able…

tell us more about your trip to Russia, sounds eciting!
spassibo

Yes please, thanks Abbey

Thank you for sharing that. ``it sounds like a cool trip.Did the same trip, also in a convertible. Big Sur is awsome. Haven’t seen Yosemite though, but it’s on the wishlist.
Where did you meet the Angels?
Shall we discuss when we meet at Cubana? I’ll go next week.
Take care

Thanks

I agree, not so nice a place for the “have nots”. It wouldn’t hurt the country to make a little more effort to look after the most disposessed. living in gated communities with security guards is not the solution.
Still, it is the land of opportunity and is makes for an interesting ride…
