I came across this fb group, swiss bikers, and was amazeed to find that there are security measures being taken specifically for bikers, this picture will show you what i’m talking about:
Have you seen anything like this in UK? should maybe someone start campaigning for it?

Lobby for it if you like then watch road tax for bikes match that of cars to compensate
well its not quite obvious from this picture , but the addition is the bottom part., the top part is there anyway to stop people driving off the side of the mountain, a detail i now realise i forgot to mention. obv switzerland is hilly so these barriers are there anyway

Granted, it wouldn’t be fun crashing into that huge lump of metal. But I guess its probably preferable to crashing into the rock, a few hundred metres down below off the cliff face just the other side of that metal barrier. Or worse, being sliced in two, when one half of you hits the upper part of the metal barrier and the lower part of you carries on to hit the afore mentioned rock at the bottom of the cliff. :pinch:
It looks like you would be less likely to get tangled up if you hit that barrier than a regular one. I’d crash into that barrier as a preference.

Barriers are fine to save you the fly off the cliff. Otherwise I don’t know.

the fact that they’re in switzerland is the key. its quite high up over there you know?
we have the same in italy in the mountains roads. otherwise, much rather take my chances without barriers.
