Just going to order these for my 98 hornet to replace the standard bars, before I do can someone confirm that they will indeed fit my bike (don’t see why not but no harm in checking before i spend!) and perhaps if you’ve used other bars (renthal or otherwise) recommend a better option?

yeah should be no probs, it only may not fit if bars are bigger etc needing longer cables but wont apply to these.
if yer totally unsure and not in a rush i have a pr here so if ya wanna offer em up to the bike b4 you buy these your most welcome.

Many thanks for the offer but the bikes without bars since i binned it and bent them all out of shape so wouldn’t be able to get it to you. Thanks for the advice though, going to order at the weekend - on the off chance if anyone has a pair for sale in the mean time let me know (black/silver).
They 100% fit. Best bet is to cut 3/4 of an inch off each end, then drill locating holes and fit… easy as that. Takes no more than 15 mins.
Reason for cutting them down is they are too long and pull on the cables a little when lock to lock. Used to run these on my race bike.
they normally are longer only by a little though but they are lower too so should not be an issues, not saying wont be though, lol

Yes they are a little longer…and yes…not by much…thus cutting down a little as I said…for the reason I said.
Good to know there ‘should’ be no issues… I’ll go on that level of approximation rather than my experience of fitting these bars to this bike over 15 times… and yes… I did crash my hairnet that much :w00t:

I was thinking of cutting them down a little bit anyway, I like to do all I can to make filtering easier. I don’t have the tools to either cut or drill them myself, however, so I’m just going to mark them and try to take them somewhere…
If you have the tools can I bring them round yours?

Aha yes I tried that but it got a bit scary on the motorways :w00t: I fancy bar end mirrors to be honest but they put me off just because of the extra width.
Got these bars today, I marked off 3/4 an inch on each side and then the 2 holes for the switch gears. I’m thinking I maybe want them a little narrower, though, as they are still about an inch wider than the standard bars and I really don’t want to compromise filtering (or turn my bike into a chopper :D)
Any real issues/things to consider with taking off another 1/2inch from each end (total 1.25inches from each end)? Wouldn’t have thought so but want to be safer than sorry!

Will work so long as you have room for switch gear & brake/clutch. Only ever cut off 3/4 and that was with no switch gear (racing)
Straight forward job so i’m sure you’ll muddle through.

Thanks, i went with 3/4 an inch off each end as suggested but in hindsight probably could have taken a little tiny bit more, however i’ll reserve judgment until I actually get to take it for a ride. I think it should be okay, feels comfortable stationary!
I plan to get a cross brace/black clutch and break levers and some of those nice mirrors to finish it off! If yours go missing around the same time I acquire some it’s merely a coincidence
