Ok first things first… Rape is probably one of the worst crimes around and should never ever be condoned. As far as I’m concerned the men who do this are cowards who deserve all they get from a legal perspective.
HOWEVER… all crimes need to be understood. The more you actually understand about crimes, the closer you will be to prevent them rather than just locking people up away and hope they do not re-convict when they come back out. Any discussion about rape would be incomplete without the rapists thoughts. The fact we are uncomfortable with them is irrelevant. In order to help prevent rapes ALL discussions are useful.
It might nor be the most appropriate setting but I don’t think it’s wrong to openly debate and talk about such issues (providing it’s moderated and no names, details are given to cause grief to victims who have already suffered)
