I know it’s something I should do myself, but I don’t have the time/tools etc. Can anyone recommend somewhere I can get my chain tension sorted and lubed up in the West London area? How much should I expect to pay for a job like that?
go to OMC, pay them £20 for an hours bench time and get them to show you what you should be doing. It really is very simple once you have been shown etc
+1
Trouble is, it’s such a nice enviroment you will end up doing a lot more on your bike
For 5 minutes work ?
If you’ve never done it before or don’t know how, it’s a lot more than 5 minutes work the first time. Especially if you still want your rear wheel to be aligned afterwards
not to mention might not have paddock stand/centre stand or big socket etc etc
I have none of the above. Maybe it’s best I just bite the bullet and get myself a stand. I saw M&P have one for £20.
Tooth brush
Liquid paraffin
Tub
Sit on your but clean the chain stand up move the bike forward then repeat
go to the OMC. you can get more things done there as well
if you can untighten the spindle nut, adjust the chain and re-tighten with a toothbrush then I need some bench time with you to find out where I am going wrong
+1. PMSL :D:P:w00t:
I am in west london … My rates are very very reasonable … . I will set alignment ,adjust, clean and lube chain for 15 quid .
sounds good
Go and see Westie. People tell me, when servicing, he’s ‘cheap’ :hehe:
Dammmit !!! My nice urge has taken over … I am about to activley seek the loss of a customer … I must be mad … Dude if you still have the triumph sprint with the single sided swingarm …
1 You don’t need a stand .
2 unless you have bent your swingarm there is no alignment to check .This why you dont need the stand .
3 All the tools required for the job are in your owners toolkit under the seat . You have one of the easiest bikes ever made to adjust the chain on … Just remember singleside bikes run a slacker chain than a normal swingarm bike .
4 I am still willing to do the job for you …
EDIT I dunno why but I think the site showed me the wrong profile ??? If you do not have a triumph ignore the above … If you do well … You know … Still willing to do the job
LOL @ Alex
Numnum, pm your number please i’m in ealing and although i love the guys at OMC, sometimes i just dont have the time!
Wow did I not read the thread…yeap
I thought you ment cleaning it lmao
So yeah get your butt to the omc
Blimey, the number of people who can’t do a simple job like adjusting a chain! Didn’t any of you guys mess around with pedal bikes as children? Same thing, just a a bit bigger.
Yeah but alot of folk who think they know how to look after a chain don’t actually know . Myself and my clientel who do as they are told wear out sprockets before chains … Just done a chain/sprockets on a despatchers VFR that got 55000 miles out a D.I.D 530 VX ,the chain was okay but the sprockets were knackerd .
