Recommend a discklock

as the topic says can anyone recommend a discklock - I know i should avoid round keyed ones

Avoid them all-together. They only serve to frustrate/anger owners and make thieves laugh. Thieves pick bikes UP and put them in back of vans. They don’t wheel them away. They’re not worth anything!

Is it for security or throwing at cagers?

LOL

at the moment security… im thinking of getting an almax (but ive read its heavy) so dont want to carry it around all the time?

Always thought this was a genius idea…

Personally I use a good quality chain to fix to something solid, or just have a bike no one wants to nick…

how come the engine is running when the guy turns the key to off to unlock the disklock/footpeg

Interesting! all depends on the price. Couldn’t see it for sale on the Luma website anywhere.

What a horrible website!

Also as bit of an ar$e having to stop and lose a peg everytime you want to lob a disk lock at a cager

You can buy them from various places… just 'kin google it seem to be about 55 notes…

I bought a yellow oxford monster for at work in my secure car park together with an alarm but at home I use it together with an Almax Series 4 chain and lock, just gives a bit of added visual security

Have ya thought sbout getting a decent padlock? 1 that will fit on your disc.

I got a nice padlock 1 that where the curved bit comes out totally, this slots onto me disc nicely and a decent padlock is cheaper that a decent disc lock.

but as jay said avoid if can and lock to a post or immovable object although disc locks are conveniant ifjust popping into shop etc.

I use the Oxford Monster lock.

…just installed this on my bike…

…makes an awfull amount of noise on slightest of touch…

…it is so difficult to carry the chain everywhere…when strapped to the pillion seat in its bag…it keeps slipping forward and really makes me paranoid of the straps snapping off…
…depending on where and for how long i’ll have to park the bike…i wont hasitate to carry the chain

I’ve got one of these… http://www.mandp.co.uk/productinfo.aspx?catRef=547801

Don’t really use it much as Jay said they are not really effective…however it does work quite well on my bike as there is no steering lock so if you move the handle bar it will trigger the alarm, but I really do not see it as a security method…I rely on my chain and datatool alarm!

They may not deter a pro thief but they do prevent some little scrote pushing yer bike away when you stop for a can of coke. I got a discount on my insurance for a Luma Solido disc lock so the insurance companies rate them (w@nkers all of em).

R

you need to get a more substantial bike if they can pick mine up they are welcome to it

The trouble with disc locks you forget there bloody on, I got one of those lockmatekeys disc lock reminders, the metal tip one, and it’s great. You never have to go over handlebars again.[url=http://www.lockmatekey.com/images/Metal-Tip-Disc-Lock-Reminder-Lg.jpg][/url

I have a yellow oxford one, with a springy rubber forget-me-not-thing.

i think that the little disc lock is waist of time but what if you have a disc lock with alarm  and of course an oxford chain
