Reccomended Lock & Chain....?!

Almax sell locks to go with the chains - they seem to work well…

WHERE CAN I GET A ALMAX FROM?!

Just ordered one from them direct. They dont sell through distributors, call them 0191 264 2748. mention you found them on londonbikers.com and you’ll get £10 off too. Really nice people to deal with.

I ordered a 1.5m chain and lock and not only did i get £10 off, they threw in a Kreiga lockbag too. Hows that for a great deal

just ordered one also got a tenner knocked off, and the free kriega bag too!! went for the series 4 sounds mammoth!! cant wait, and delivery tommorrow, how cool is that?!!!

series 4 yeah thats the one I have, could lock a elephant with it!

Im just about to order this for the GSXR:

Is this what I want or is there anything better lock wise? Will a 1m chain be long enough? Dont wanna get the 1.5m and end up with a load of slack. Im gonna be using a Y anchor to lock it with.

Ta!

Don’t leave the lock on the ground, if you can. Granted, the lock that comes with the chain has a CEN6 rating and is pretty hardcore. The only thing with the lock is that if you take 15 pound sledge hammer to it, after a few direct hits, it will break. Nothing is indestructable.

But yeah. I use an Almax chain and I feel safe in the knowledge that to break it you’ll need two things, cutting gear and a whole lot of time.

By the way it might only be me- but when you get your lock and chain from Almax (I have the series IV) and start wondering how the fcuk you actually lock them- you put one end link of the chain through the other and the lock around the ‘through’ link. Took me a few minutes to get over being blonde and work that one out.

As for when I haven’t got anything to lock to I lock around the seat and through the top of the rear tire, then hide the padlock in behind the pillion footpegs- still easy access with a key, but no theiving cnut is getting anywhere near the lock with any kind of tool. Disc on the front alarm on top and a cover over the whole job lot. I don’t know that there’s really a lot more I could do except pay armed guards to protect my baby.

Cheers for the replies Just ordered a Series 4 and matching lock, was recommended a 2m chain as I’ll be using a Y anchor. Got £10 off and a free ‘Tail Pack’ The bloke also recommeded that I could setup a bird scarer that you can get in gun shops for about £20, involves a trip wire and some ammo I think ha ha

Go for any 16+mm chain, Theives will find a 16mm chain difficult to cut.

Well so my alarm guy says!!!

Cheers Joe - the chain I got is 19mm

Think your well sorted then matey.

Get tracker retrieve put on your bike, £259 Including fitting, The *******s will get a surprise when the flying squad knock down there door!!!

All the best

Squire have just released a chain to compete with Almax

The specs of the chain are similar to the Almax and they come with possibly the best padlock there is…

I may buy one to wrap around the swing-arm. I think I’m getting a chain fetish…

Also, another idea to protect your pride and joy is one of these…

At least you’ll be able to hear anyone as they attempt to fiddle with your bike…

Hope that helps…

Guys… After seeing the youtube video, im looking to get an almax series 4 chain. Do you think the chain will fit on my Xena claw 18??? Im worried the chain will be too thick to use the claw. http://www.xenasecurity.com/product/accessory/main/CLAW/page1/

Thanx for the help.

If you ring Almx they will tell you, they’re very helpful.

Thanx slart.
