I’ve noticed recently, especially during or just after wet weather, but also during drier periods, when I lean the bike over to make a turn (especially right handers, but that might just be because I go into right handers with more gusto) that the rear tyre is losing grip and playing out behind me slightly.
It’s only slight, nothing properly dangerous, just enough to give me cause for concern. I’d estimate that it slides a couple of inches at most, but as you know, a couple of inches feels huge.
Now I’ve thought this might be due to low grip levels at the rear tyre, and thus the wheel is spinning out faster than the bike itself is traveling, so I was thinking it might be prudent to try and load the rear tyre by doing a bit of rear brake action, but at the low speeds I’m normally moving at, that might do more harm than good…
Anyone got any ideas?
