Re: SE Stolen Bikes

Spoke to Mike at the stolen vehicle unit today, I have to say he’s really fighting our corner with very limited resources, he is aware that Greenwich & SE is a hot spot & even knows by mo who the players are, and is doing his best to get our bikes back & bring those nickin them to task, I’ve seen some of his work in the MCN and on the box.

Couple of thing he said that we can do to help out:

  1. And this explained how my bike went so fast & no one saw any vans parked, they are ped pushing, smash the locks and push the bike using a ped, if you see this going on get the ped no plate & obviously the pushed bike, also if its safe to do so follow them to where the stolen bike is being pugged up then call the police.
  2. Get a tracker fitted, Road Angel was the one he mentioned as having on his own bike & they report to his unit when bike is stolen. This unit can also be turned off when you don’t want it to be tracked, not that information can be easily shared.
3)There are more of us than there are of his team, so keep an eye out for these bike being pinched & parked up, at the moment anything going in this way is being parked up in Depford around the wicks store but that’s liable to move obviously so get out there looking when it goes
  3. Met resources, there are only 2 in his team & is not just bike but car, plant & freight, the met are forming a task force to investigate stolen push bikes in the City which has consume 20+ officers if you get a chance to have a moan at an mp or Boris then take it there needs to be more in his team
  4. For those of us with MX bike (I lost one of them 2) get it registered with the DVLA on Q plate, its free, the reason for this is that forces don’t share info on stolen non registered vehicles crazy I know but if its in the DVLA as stolen any force would pick it up as so from a vin check

he also reckons the ped pushing thieves can be through most locks and away in seconds, he didn’t say how only that they have tested and it is the case

As mentioned in previous posts, you only need to go onto Almax website to see how quick most chains can be bolt cropped.

and a few of us have seen how quick they disable the steering lock and ignition :frowning: i only use security at home usually but am now using some on my drz whilst out and about.

i got hold of these http://www.ingersolllocks.co.uk/page29.htm i only payed £50 for 2  but they are serious padlocks great on my garage and when i’m out and about i use one as a disc lock and one on my chain
