Rain and leather jackets

Hi everyone.

I got caught in very heavy rain yesterday and needless to say my dainese leather jacket was soaked. Inside the booklet that came with the jacket dainese states that rain may damage a leather jacket. What should I do to take care of my jacket so that it won’t lose any of its protective qualities?

This is an old wives tale, but it seems to work.

Get the jacket completely dry, and then sponge out with a light detergent any dirt, not getting the jacket any more then slightly damp.

Then with a soft cloth, and clear boot polish, rub a tiny amount into the jacket, and then polish off so there is no residue.

Makes the jacket slightly proofed, and a little bit shiny, but it seems to work on mine.

Dry in a warm room then use nik wax or dubbin makes the leather nice and supple and looking as good as new:D
