Race rep insurance

Ive just read a thread in bike talk about a guy that wanted to buy a crescent suzuki, and someone (I cant remember who sorry) mentioned about race reps being dearer to insure. I have a factory nastro azzurro (tribute to rossi’s 2001 nsr) and this is quite true. My first years premium was a whopping £1100.00. The following year the price fell to £475.00. All quotes were fully comp. My present quote is barely 3 figures.

I walked away from an hm plant blade because of this last year.

The point is, the same bike without the factory replica paint job would have been half what it was. In my job I do a lot of work with insurance companies but not for bikes. Is there someone here that deals with insurance that can answer that question? My curiosity has now awoken on this one.

why tell em its a race rep, just tell em wot bike it is!

If you don’t declare its got a non OEM paint job they may insist that any damaged bodywork is replaced with new standard stuff and you have to foot the bill to get it painted “shexy” again:crazy:

its a factory job oldguy so therefore registered on the insurance database, so when they asked the questions make model year type it was inevitable that they would have known it was a rossi rep, its on their books as such.

ooopppsss sorry chops these drugs are making me see things hahaha

Hi GR - I had the same bike as you a couple of years ago, same paint job but had twin Renegades and a sexy plate… didn’t cost me anything extra to insure. Told the insurance that it was a Rossi rep, no. whatever of 100 in the country they weren’t bothered… maybe cos I’m a bird  Good luck with yours Qx

lol, no probs.
