Evening all … tried doing a search on the forum, but it failed … so sorry if it’s been asked before.
2003 R6 … how many miles am I likely to see in the reserve tank of my bike, when the petrol light comes on ?
Normal driving … not thrashing the nuts off it either!! ?
Is it a standard bike?? - between 10-20 miles
Can added - about 5-10 miles
to be honest most people i know look for a petrol station when they see that light - just to be on the safe side!!!

I think I’m right in saying you have a reserve of roundabout 3 Litres.
You should never consider using anywhere near the capacity of the reserve because there is a good chance of sucking up all kinds of rubbish from the bottom of your tank.

I never let any car / bike go into reserve, but the other day I mis judged my self … coming back down the M11 and the light came on !!
Then a big sign “no motorway services” so i paniced, took the first turning off, and found this petrol station in the middle of no where !

…i hav done 13 miles on reseve…but yepp…the fear of getting stuck was too much…and was desperatly looking for a station the moment fuel light was lit…
Nothing worse than your bike spluttering and you reach down to turn the tap on reserve and feel that it’s already been on reserve
I only ever did it once and it was a long long push.
So much nicer to have a light these days
I did over 20 miles on the reserve on 04 my R6 Saturday.
Yeh, cos it was too scared to stop
20 miles has been the upper marker on my bikes so far ('04 r6, 748, and r1 - all with race cans)
know that getting much beyond 20 on an r1 is a bad move, and that pushing bikes uphill aint fun…
