Why are people talking about the RS125 when the title says reliable?
KTM has a Duke 125 which is too new to know how reliable it is but there have been no complaints so far. Not sporty but it is very nice to look at.
Nice looking bike, but I’d say the main problem with using one of those in London, will be managing to keep possession of it for long enough to find out if they are reliable or not…
dont buy a KTM duke…made in india apparently and from what im told they aint built that well for a KTM!
YZF-R125’s are good bikes, my brother has one, bit pricey for what it is but they do handle really well, stick a pipe on them which is really a full system, and they sound meaty and better for filtering;)
pretty reliable too, just like all 125’s keep an eye on the oil level as they only hold a little and the high revs used a lot can drink a little bit.
YBR’s are good too, no 125 is mega fast but my brother is about 13 stone? hes a big lad and he got 75mph out of his YZF125, which aint bad, was more there tho.
quite comfortably.
He doesn’t want buy a bike now, incase he drops it and looses the car fund. He’s gonna keep his Ped for now, cheers Ratty and all!
CBR 125 is pretty good, not as fast as the R125 but very reliable…
cbr 125’s are tiiiiny
CBR on left, Varadero on right

I’m curious…
How do you know the insurance will drop to 3.5 next year?
If you have just done a quote with him being a year older, it makes no difference. If your areas insurance class goes up or down it will affect the quote… Same with the amount of claims in your are/ surrounding areas etc etc…
Insurance is based on so many petty little factors its unreal.
You will never really know your quote until it comes to renewal.
Good luck

Daws, just changed his age on the enquiry, have got it down to 3k, now as a live quote starting next month, but still too mental!
Also on Dec 21st an EU directive on insurance equality comes into force, meaning that insurers are no longer allowed to differentiate between the sexes when it comes to providing cover.
So whereas at the moment the cost of car insurance for females below the age of 40 is typically less than their male counterparts (massively so in the case of those in their teens or early 20s), from next year legally they’ll have to be the same, hence huge rises in insurance costs for the girlies & some reductions for the boysies.

Bet they put up girls premiums by a lot more than they drop the boys premiums.
Insurance companies must be delighted.
Cheers Pat, interesting article, I think Mark’s prediction will come true… Best quote so far was 3k, so let’s see what they say in Mid December!
Just about to renew his 50 for £270 and you can add more bikes further down the line… Wish he would just do his restricted licence next month, to teach him some road sense (I’ve told him I will pay for it and it won’t come out of the car/bike fund
Love the duke, i started on a cbr125r which was fine, honda reliability, dunno about the yam but we had the worlds worst R6, enough to put us off.
I had a new 2000 R6, was 100 % reliable… I suppose they do get thrashed!
