Question

Will they ask me to do a U-TURN from the right to left or will it only be from left to right??

I think it should be left to right.

if it was right to left then in means your facing the wrong way on a road , or on a one way system ., In which case you shouldnt be turning around

Yep… left to right.

When is it luvvie? your test?

you should first be asked to push the bike from left curb to right, park it and get on and ride it back again in a U turn left curb to right always ending up facing the direction of the flowing traffic.

may be a good idea to get a couple of hours of lesson before you do your test just to run over everything you are expected to know and do, have a look around and find a local instructor who will know what the examiner is looking at the test centre your booked in with. its not meant to happen but they (examiners) all seem to have there own little things they do and dont like to see in a rider.

I was so relieved at doing mine correctly i asked the examiner for a pause to settle myself before continuing. no reason you can’t fake it if needs be and kill some more time on the test.

Yes, you’ll have to push the bike round first (either to prove that it’ll turn in the space, or because the examiner doesn’t want to have to do a U-turn himself - pick your theory), then ride it back to the other side of the road. You’ll finish up facing in the same direction you were when you were asked to pull over and get off the bike.

I had two goes at mine. I did my lifesaver and pulled away - but it didn’t feel right, so I mirror-checked, stopped, then got myself together and started again.

As long as you haven’t started the turn, you should be fine with having another bash at it.

Thanks, i thought that it was just left to right, but it was one of those that seemed blindingly obvious to me and i wasn’t sure because it seemed so obvious, (if you know what i mean).

I’ve been practicing the walking u-turn, real u-turn and emergency stop on a little quite side street.

The test is on Wednesday at Guildford.

Thanks again

good luck for wednesday.

they make you push it round to give you a boost to prove it fits in the space required also if you messed up the U turn proper then you cant complain afterwards that the road was to narrow, if you can push it round you can ride it round, take your time with it
