Question about theory test

Hey everybody,

I’ve got my theory test on Friday and I’m just wondering how similar are the questions to the ones the practice cd’s? The one I’ve got is called “driving test success - all tests” i know it says official questions but does that mean that they are just approved or the actaul ones?

Also any other helpfull advice welcome

Thanks,

Toshk

As long as you have the right CD/DVD for this year’s questions (they get added to and changed each year) they are the questions you will get. The hazard perception videos are different though. The real ones are much easier than the ones onthe CD/DVDs as the real ones filmed in good quality and are all staged whilst the practice ones are filmed on real roads with a rubbish camera so have far more irrelevant potential hazards on them and it is easy to miss things i nthe distance due ot the poor picture quality.

I used the official DVLA theory test CD-ROM and Hazard preception DVD… they really helped in building up my knowledge… the hazard preception one is abit pants as riding a bike true life rather than looking at a recording in a computer screen is completely different… my tip would be to just get in a good amount of practice on the theory test CD-ROM and with the Hazard preception really keep an eye open for things in the distance… like someone standing next to a car, etc. The Hazard preception videos on the DVD will not be the same as your do in the actual exam though as if we all knew what was round the next corner life would be just too easy

Just picked up on something, is the practice theory test cd-rom you have for the “driving” test or the “motorbike” test?. If it is this years official DVLA cd-rom then the questions your asked will all be on that cd-rom.

Good luck fella

You’ve got the same CD as I had - the questions are pretty identical so it should be okay. Just gotta get through them :stuck_out_tongue: Reading the highway code is still probably a very good idea if you haven’t already

The theory CD/DVDs usually ask you which test you are taking, they normally have both the bike and car questions.

The hazard perception is the same test for both cars and bikes.

I have this years “cd” ,and I have selected to do them for the motorbike, and that’s good as for the question part of the paper I’m averaging over 90%.

Yeah, i’ve had a couple really bad hazard perception vidoes, with almost a white screen due to the light and apparently some cyclist way up ahead on the road, hehe

Thanks for the help

I’ll be going back to practicing now

If you get 90% on the practise one, you shouldn’t fail the actual test.

Take your time and read the question (twice if necessary) as you have so much time.

On the hazard just don’t go crazy with the mouse or it wont count.

Keep looking to see what is **potentially ** about to step of the curb, pull out of a side street or parked on a corner or a curb (and you’ll be okay).

thanks for the advice,

a couple of times I’ve got 49/50, i actually got that in the last one I’ve just done.

Also, do you know how many times we are aloud to click during a clip in the Hazard Perception??

The theory test book is extremly good. every question on there comes up on the test. If you read the ?s then read the correct answers don’t waste time looking at the multiple answers. it will stick in your head even better i did my theory test for car 3x first 2x i didn’t read the book the third time i actualy sat and read it, it was exactly as the book i pass the bike theory first time round coz all the answers were in the book. you just got to memories it

The hazard perception will only penalise you if you click like mad. You are allowed to click when there is not a hazard, just don’t click in a methodical and fast way. An acceptable and effective method is to practice clicking once when you see a possible hazard location, for example as you turn a corner or see a pedestrian crossing in the distance etc. Then again when you actually see a hazard, and then a third time one second after you see the hazard. Don’t wait for the one (or two) hazards that count, you don’t get penalised for seeing too many potential hazards and you only get rewarded for seeing the “developing” hazards at the right time.

To prepare properly for the theory test we strongly recommend that you study the books from which the questions are taken. These books, known as the source material, consist of

  • The Highway Code
  • Know Your Traffic Signs and
  • Latest Official DSA theory test question bank for the vehicle category in which you are taking your test.

www.theory-test.co.uk - You can prepare for your driving theory test, you can access official driving theory test questions and answers online along with the interactive hazard perception clips.

Hope this helps…

Don’t suppose you’ve got a product to plug do you mate? :stuck_out_tongue:

The ones on that disc are the exact question bank from the DSA. Its also the best disc on the market IMO.

Good luck.

Just practice lottt before going for the actual test…Take daily mock tests available on various websites…Also prepare well before the tests…
Best of luck…

The theory part of the test doesn’t actually sound too hard from this thread…

Hows the practical? A lot harder?

truthfully it’s not all that difficult (although that’s easy to say once you’ve passed!).
But really no it’s quite straight forward.
I read a 2006 dsa motobike revision book and still got 100%. some of the questions I hadn’t seen before but it’s so obvious as to what the answer was. As for the hazard preception I didn’t have anything to revise with for that so just took a gamble. Ended up getting 65 or so. With this just look ahead and pick out any hazards whether happening or potentially going to happen. It’ll all make sense on the day.
Onto the practical and he best bit of advice I can give is if your doing fine in all your training and getting it all right there, stay confident in what you’ve been taught, your ability in what you need to do and you’ll sail through. After each step you’ll be stopped and briefed on the next. Relax through these and if need be ask the examiner to repeat if you don’t understand.
Onto module 2 and just concentrate on having a trouble free and safe ride. Again be confident in what you’ve been taught, on the road riding you may have done with your training school and once again I doubt you’ll have any problems. Also if you think you’ve made a mistake just put it to the back of your mind and don’t think you’ve automaically failed.

Just my 2p:)

Thank you, that’s helpful.
