I have just fitted these lens covers (check avatar) I had no idea they were illegal:w00t: I would definately argue the point if charged for it, they ARE removeable. I have only been stopped once on my first bike about 20 years ago, they literaly run me off the road and made me fall off! No warning or anything, their excuse was that lots of bikes are stolen in that area, my question was ‘IS THIS BIKE REPORTED STOLEN!!!’. Thankfully I have not been stopped since on any bike, for you a warning would of been more than enough as long as you were polite etc sadly there are bad apples that spoil the bunch, I have had very very bad experiences with police but also no some great guys who are in the force.
ive decided to take them off for a change, but I still think its silly, would still like to ask a traffic copper and see what the real deal is, because ‘headlights not maintained is rubbish’
I have no idea of the legality of the covers, but I would have though that anything that can reduced the output of the light would be in a grey area.
Probably pulled you over because he was bored.
