Potential Death From Gearbox Failiure

As some of you may be aware, I’ve had a few problems with my blade in the last 6 months.

On the way home from work on Thursday night, I hit a neutral between 4th and 5th, it then smashed into 5th on its own.
It made a huge knock as it slotted in, and for the rest of the journey home there was a nasty grinding noise.

Opened it all up this weekend and as i still had parts from my last gearbox, I guessed i could fix it.

Check out the crack across the retaining plate for the input and output shafts.

I thought Honda’s were supposed to be “bullet proof”

Damn, bad luck.

Have you sorted it? Is it not under warranty?

BTW, no, It’s Suzuki’s that are bullet-proof (as long as not in the hands of Da Artist)

It smashed 6th gear to bits in October during a trip down to bury hill, Honda didn’t want any involvement after i took the box out for them to inspect it.
So got 2nd box from breakers, lucky i had the parts from my original had it all buttoned up monday afternoon for a test ride.

i see myself getting a k6 then soon.

Damn! That looks like a weak casting.

Sorry to hear that, but at least your ok which is the main thing.

Suzuki’s are not bulletproof…Their frames are made of cheese…But when you install the cheese brace, reliability is improved.

Unlucky with the bike Collett.

damn…dude as much as you love that blade…get shot of it fella!

Thats crap…ive had blades for past, i cant count many years, and never, not once has that happened, not once.

Seems like youve had REALLY bad luck, (or u ride like a ****) that WAS a joke  :P:D:P:D

Dont even think of going to the “dark side” of suzuki…what area are you by the way? I know the guys in my local honda dealers (romford) and i know guys who can get parts too? seriously, ive never had that kind of problem, fact…ive not had any problems that werent my own doing, on any of my blades (maybe ive just been lucky, dunno)

Are you certain it was rebuilt properly last time?

Looks like you got a “Monday’s bike”. You know… “Good morning Hohichi-san, you don’t look too good, too much rice wine this weekend?”

or a friday bike …hurry up were off to the pub!!!

LOL @ Monday and Friday bikes.

+1It’s not often that an inanimate diecasting like that would fail. Looking at the top picture, there seems to be a bolt missing from the bottom left hand. Could that have caused vibration stress i wonder?

yep, every bolt was torqued up to haynes specs before i put it back together and re the missing bolts, i’d started taking them out and stopped to get the camera, so i could show any damage as i went.
going to get it all fixed up and looking new for a new home, then maybe an '07 R1 will be in order.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! get a gixer fella leave the r1 well alone
