Porn

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23401076

What is this man doing? Is he doing this to deflect criticisms of his handling of the economy, NHS, Scotland, and Europe? Given that child porn is already illegal and the failure to report it is a crime, if people want to view porn what is the problem, why does it need to be blocked by the ISP?

Why does the government feel the need to do this? Network filters will be by passed within hours (torrents anyone), and why the hell aren’t the parents monitoring what their children are doing online? Why aren’t they using content blockers on their computers?

I’ve just read that Cameron cut the budget of CEOP!!! You cannot make this stuff up. For those that don’t know what it is:

What is this all about? Is this the first step to try and control everything? Or just electioneering and trying to induce fear in paranoid parents?

They have had no luck blocking Piratebay, what makes them think that they can block pornography?

This is just another case of the society putting more burden on the government when it shouldn’t be. I agree, this is a parental responsibility and the gov shouldn’t be babysitting us.

As with everything though, they most likely have an agenda and this is just another small move towards it. Setting up an easily modifiable blocklist means they can block whatever they want afterwards. And who decides what’s right and wrong to block? Remember the incident where the WHOLE of wikipedia was broken because of one image relating to ‘child abuse’? https://www.openrightsgroup.org/blog/2008/iwf-censors-wikipedia-chaos-ensues

This is just another attempt to re-introduce a similar blocking system under a different name. First CP, piracy, then porn. Most people will be too embarrassed to explicitly remove the filter and the majority of the nation will only be seeing that the government wants them to see (China anyone?). And before you know it you won’t even have the choice to remove the filter; and most people won’t even know how to bypass it.

Once again the guy behind the desk doesn’t think about the little man. I didn’t mean to sound condescending, the issue just makes me really upset and I hope everyone realises the issue behind all this. The recent issues with Snowden and surveillance go to show how much is going behind closed doors and that the gov is trying its hardest to control society.

I find it sad that as a first world nation, we go back to being ‘third world’ and noone gives a damn.

Added bonus of this topic is that you can quickly tell who the dirty little pervs are who spend too much time watching porn

oh, hi!

And that’s exactly the mentality the governments are trying to appeal to. I get the joke but to me it’s so old it’s not funny anymore. And it totally detracts from the discussion. Great, I watch porn, what a surprise.

The recent similar case cropped up with SOPA: http://venturebeat.com/2012/02/18/internet-surveillance-bill/
And everyone thinks: This must be good, it prevents child abuse. If you oppose this bill, you’re obviously pro-child abuse!

The internet and the www were designed to enable free
flow of information. Monitoring, adding “filters” and
blocking searches are just breaking that design.

If someone proposed that all phone calls were monitored
with certain words or phrases barred and certain numbers
blocked on your phone, but it’s ok really as you have
some sort of choice to opt in, people would be instantly
protesting.

And I know what bluelagos got up to when we were on
hols in Africa

such a waste of time…you can get around these filters in about 15 seconds.

Oh it’s all going tits up!

i can see sales of hard drives are going to sky rocket

sales of VPNs are going to skyrocket…

customer “I just got your internet installed, is the porn disabled?”
helpdesk “no, it’s just normal porn you sick bastard”

No idea what you are talking about Mike :stuck_out_tongue:

I meant the dirty little pervs on LB

This is the first step on a very slippery slope.

It starts with pr0n and before you know it, our internet is just as censored as North Korea’s…
This cannot be allowed to happen. Some will argue that calling your ISP and asking for permission to watch porn is no big deal.
The truth of the matter is that parenting extends to the internet. I was taught about internet safety at a young age. It was made clear to me that if I had any questions about something I found online, all I had to do was ask.
My brother and I found a pair of tits while searching for mIRC channel bots. Talked to dad about it and it was all set straight.

Talk to your children about how to use the internet safely. If it bothers you enough, PM me for instructions on how to block websites with your home router.
This is not a national issue. It is a parenting issue.

ok they can’t stop p2p, they can barely make a system that can manage 500 hundred aeroplanes over London on a daily basis, the NHS still hasn’t caught up with the fact that I only have 1 home, and as far as the alleged culprits in this go, Cameron has to ASK THEM to pay tax, so how in God’s name is Cameron’s inbred gang of chinless wonders going to force these companies into stopping the giga billions of dollars of revenue generated through porn, porn ads, porn sites and porn chat …

HA HA HA AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA AH AH AH AH AH AHHA H

Next thread please#

wow, he better be joking, sicko

i’m gonna try my best to watch as much porn as possible just to piss cameron off.

What, block xhamster?! Noooooooooo! :w00t:

Isn’t porn the most popular thing on the internet? Anyway, if they block it, all the websites have to do is turn their videos into ‘educational documentaries’ and it’ll be allowed, just like Channel 4 did a few years ago. Just think… ‘The Joy Of Bestiality - Episode 1’, or ‘Golden Showers - The Sex Lives Of The Incontinent’ :stuck_out_tongue:
