Police bike is 'serious threat'

Not exactly breaking news, but -

‘A standard issue police motorbike used by 22 forces poses a “serious” threat to riders’ lives, a coroner has said.’

I was speaking to one of the lads from Wembley Bikesafe about it. He reckoned it wasn’t the bike itself, rather all the extra gubbins that has to go on a police bike…

“The inquest was told that problems affected only police models of the motorcycle with their heavy emergency and communications equipment.”

Why can’t they just use the bike for what it’s good at - getting one person through traffic. And not try to carry as much equipment as they would put in a car?

Bah, what else can the coroner say without a lawsuit landing on their laps after several months? Likewise for police departments wondering what to do in the aftermath of this situation.
