Pole-Axed

Was coming home from Ace Cafe this afternoon wirh Ossi (son) and for some, stupid, reason decide not to take 406 but to go through Wembley etc. Anyway, taking Blackbird Hill and outside pub - Blarney Stone - a drunk walked straight out on a pedestrian crossing that was green - to vehicles - and I rode staright into him - just swerved but couldn’t avoid.

Staight over handlebars, apparently Drogba-like, and Ossi, riding behind, just managed to avoid me. The guy, a Polish geezer whop had been p*ssing it up all afternoon in the Blarney Stone and had a can of Kronenborg in hs hand at the time, I’m now told. His friends remained on pavement and there were witnesses so police were OK and didn’t even breatherlyse - I obviously hadn’t been drinking anyway.

He went off in an ambulkance and, semi-concious, said “Sorry” - chances of me getting anything back from the guy - nil I reckon, so £ 500 x/s and probably NCB gone. F*ck!!! I was having new Akra’s put on Tuesday, so that’s up the spout too. Grrrr.

Moral of the story? Dont know!

**** , u must be so pissed off
its a pain in the ass when things happen because of other peoples stupidity
u got his details to phone him up ?

yeah police gave me details - name/address etc and got witness phone number - thanks.

Speak to the Citizens Advice Beurau. They should be able to give you advice on making a claim for damages etc… Sorry to hear about this mate, but on a positive note at least you and your son walkied away…

unlucky mate.could have been worse for you .

hope it all gets sortd out

lucky it wasn’t you in the back of ambulance …

That`s not good mate but aleast your alright. I think you can take the guy to court.

lucky no one was seriously injured…the drunk guy, if he is polish in my experience of them will be honourable so dont give up just yet…he may well pay up if he has money…

That is sooo crap and completely unavoidable from your perspective.

Glad there’s no injuries to you.

Have you thought of trying the motor insurance bureau? I know they can help with uninsured losses on cars but not sure if they will do the same for bikes or when the other party is a pedrestrian…

Sorry to hear that mate, main thing is your not damaged. Annoying I know but the bike can be fixed.

Agreed with wlodek. Shame about that Pole…

Agreed with wlodek. Shame about that Pole…

Pretty sure the Polish guy is OK as he was concious and even said “sorry”! I couldn’t get hold of Wembley CJU to check as not back until tomorrow. Looking at the damage to my bike it looks like I must have clipped him rather than a full-on, so hopefully no permanent damage, other than to the bike. Thanks for the messages - appreciated. And what a lovely day I missed today - and for the next several weeks as well no doubt.

sorry to hear this fell but as the others have all said.

At least you and young Lawro are both ok

That sucks, hope the damage to bike is minimal and that you are ok.

Really hope that the drunken Darwin candidate is ok and learns from it.

Not sure if this will help…

but a similar thing happened to me where a woman walked out between 2 buses and fortunately my misus works for the insurance company that I was with at the time.

I know its a long shot but your insurance company can possibly claim against this guy, i.e against his household insurance to reclaim your losses.

Also insurance companies all add to a pot where circumstances of claims of uninsured drivers and diesel spills for example, there was a story of a guy in MCN who won a claim when he fell off on spilt diesel. I know its a long shot but you never know…

sorry to hear that :frowning:

Have you tried the motor insurance bureau? they might be able to help as well, government insurance company that deal with this sort of thing.

I know I’m known for havin AND voicin strong opinions, but this is just completely ludicrous…

How come the pedestrian has ALL the law behind them but is never held accountable if they cause an accident…

Its the same when a cyclist is involved… they don’t have to prove anything, the motorist or motorcycle has to prove their own innocence in all cases…

When is this stupidity going to be looked at seriously? The amount of idiot lemmings who cause accidents cos they’re pissed, or they’re texting, or they just don’t bother looking is unbelievable… If you kept pedestrians out of the roads, Britains’ accident rates would plummet…
