Platex Moonwalk / Half Moon/ 2010

Its Showtime People…!!!As you have been made aware by a few the other members, this years Breakthrough To Breast Cancer Weekend Event will be the Playtex Moonwalk and the Half Moon Walk Marathons Centered on Hyde Park London.

For those of you that are un-familiar and for those of you that have been on other Events then this is a brief outline to date as to what we can expect and what will be expected of us.

OUTLINE =

LB has been nominated (by whom I do not know  ) To once again take the lead and act as Official Motorcycle Marshalls on route to Europes Biggest Street Charity Event. Riders are needed to Monitor the Route and Walkers, Act as Markers to guide Walkers in Directions to get to the Finish Destination and to Steer them clear of anything that may have occured that might cause harm or hamper their efforts and above all you are there to cheer them on making sure they and yourselves have a fantastic time !!

DAY PLAN =

The first Day will start with the Bike Crew meeting at a designated area which Time and Place is to be arranged. This will be in Central London but not on the Route itself. Once all the Registered Bikes have arrived they will then move on to the Zone that has been reserved for you. During the event we can come and go from this Zone at will as long as it is Manned at all times asked of us. The rest of the days route working and point marking will originate from here and there will be an emergency contact based here from Londonbikers and Walk the Walk for you to pass on any concerns to. ( Telephone Numbers to be allocated on the day).

At Midnight we will gather all Marshalls together and attend the Moonwalk Midnight Celebrations at the Staged area for Photo Calls and attend TV and Radio Broadcasts and also the Filming of the Event by Walk The Walk themselves. This will also be a chance to kick back and relax, eat and drink and generally stand about talking about how you have stole the show !!

After this it will be back to the Zone and Route Marks to Finish the Night Off. The Following Morning there will be Roll Calls to assess how many Bikers are still standing / how many new riders have joined the Team and Point Allocations given to start the Morning off and work through the Route with the New Walkers of that Day. Once the Event starts winding to a close the Marshalls will ride through the whole Route in Sweeper System fashion and then gather ready for the closing ceremony

ZONES =

Walk the Walk Org operate with a Zone Plan where each individual Team are allocated a chunk of the Route to make their own. This is so we can control and operate this area to the best of our ability and of course…take credit for the best zone efforts over the whole event at the closing ceremony… We will use this as our Base where we will nominate an area where storage for belongings not needed at a specific time can be left, Bike Parking, General Maintainance, Rest Area and of Course the place where we get Fed and Watered to our hearts content !!.

WE WILL BE OUT ON THE BIKES ON ROUTE THROUGHOUT LONDON AND THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT HAVING THE BEST TIME !! NO SLIMELIGHT CONTAINMENT THIS TIME !!!:stuck_out_tongue:

This area will also be used to Dispatch and Receive Riders going out and coming off of their allocated point duty throughout the Route. This Zone will be occupied throughout the whole Event by Londonbikers and No Other Volunteer Group !!This Zone can be Themed (Fancy Dress) but Id have money on this Zone being the one where Pink Water Ballons are being chucked about, Blokes and Birds in Pink Bras, Soppy Hats, Lemon looking Blokes with Guv,na on the backs of their Shirts hangout and Making the most Noise and the Walkers having the best Fun and Banter !!.ROUTE =The Route is not a new one, it has been tried and tested in previous Moonwalks and it does and will work !!Walk The Walk are no Limelight…Everything has been taken in to consideration and covered !The Route Mapping for Marshalls has gone to print and will be available to download soon.SHIFTS =Walk the Walk have thought of everything and for those people that cant make the whole event or for those that want to be a part of it and just cant make some times then there is a SHIFT PATTERN available for eveyone !!SHIFT 1 = Saturday 15th May 6pm - MidnightSHIFT 2 = Saturday 15th May 8pm-Sunday BreakfastSHIFT 3 = Sunday 16th May 6am -Sunday LunchHur Hum…registering to do one shift is one Fee…once you are Registered to do a Shift…there is nothing stopping you coming and going and being a part of the party whenever you have the time to do so !! …Pay one fee and tick all the boxes !!People of Walk The Walk=…Barro didnt type that last bit of information…he wouldnt be biased enough and veer toward one Team of Volunteers !!..it must have been the hand of God !! :wink:REGISTRATION =The Registration Process will be the same as in the past.I will soon post up your Volunteer Registration Forms, these are very different from what you will see on any Walk The Walk Website so please do not send in any of those. The Registration Fee will be arranged by myself with the Volunteer Manager soon and this Fee is and has been our way of contributing to the Event and also prevents us having to raise monies before the event like the Walkers have to do but…please feel free to do this if you want to. !! anything is a bonus !!On Registration you will need a copy of =Full LicenceInsurance Certificate for the Bike being usedTax Disc for the Bike being used.Attach these to your Registration Forms along with a Cheque or Postal Order made payable to Walk The Walk (No Cash Excepted)The Postal Address will be posted here soon.GENERAL =I have infiltrated the ranks of LB yet again, I have spies, I have Agents and I have Information !!..these people are in the process of working with me to try to arrange curtesy bikes from major dealers, Breakdown Recovery Services for you on the day, Some Nutcase I know and Love has even got the flippin R.N.L.I to give us Pink Glo Sticks. Pink Hi Vis are being talked about too…Pardo will like that wont ya Divvy Balls !! …Anthing we can do to add to the fun we will. Im in babes…will do the sat all nighter !! see if i can make it to sunday lunch time…prob book that monday off work to get over it but hey !! i aint been to a party in ages …this sounds like another good time to be had by all…one question? why the tax disc…and if you have it, when do we get it back? cant you have a copy of it? i have to take all the damn holder apart which is a pain ha ha

oops sorry, just seen, it is a copy thats required…doh…blonde moment…(thanks ginger!!) ha ha:P

it does say a copy off not they want it …lol

just clean the tax disc holder then photocopy it …lol

There are legal issues connected with copying tax discs (no offence will have been committed by sending a copy, but this invites trouble). It is totally unnecessary anyhow. The tax status of any bike can be found online in seconds with only the registration and make of vehicle, both of which will be on the insurance details requested.

Go here

Hey Giuliano,

how are you …seeing as you are now an old skool BCW Volunteer I expect to see you on route this year !!

Anyway, good point you made on the Tax Disc Topic…The reason I suggested to The Planners that I would ask you all to do this was to prevent us having to all line up somewhere prior to / or on the day of the event and start to individually produce our documents to a representative that would have had to have been allocated by walk the walk to inspect the paperwork and tax discs.

I promise you faithfully…walk the walk are a mega proffessional outfit…once our paperwork has been passed and the actual bikes and riders have been registered to come on to the route for the event your security pass with all your details will be issued and then everything is automatically shreaded.

I hope Ive cleared any worries up G and I look forward to seeing you soon.

The date man!, the DATE!..

Need to know when this is on so I can make sure I’m free!.

Also I can contact Ears when I know this is happening and book two way radios for everyone as per usual.

Looking good Dave, keep us posted.

Chaz

15th of May Chaz ( in terms of radios will probably be best to book the whole weekend out though we will be required from 6pm on Sat 15th until LUnchtime on the Sunday )

No probs. Blue light blood bike on standby as well

Nice one Barro hopefully well I’ll be going for the hole weekend… I can try!!

right guv text you my number.

I’ll be doing all three shifts too

We can ride back to High Wycombe in a coma together :doze:

As you can see from my Avatar I have good memories of the last Breakthrough event and regularly donate to them. Unfortunatly I doubt I can support the walk this year though as before your call to arms I made other commitments in connection with the BMF Show at Peterborough which is the same weekend and which I am unlikly to be able to get out of.

Whether I can take part or not I wish the walk every success and encourage everyone else who can, to do their bit.

I know LAA is LB’s regular charity, but I will be looking to sponsior a walker on this, or other way of contributing.

I’m definitely up for this.
I would be up for all 3 shifts and as soon as I’m confirmed I will start with some extra fundraising!
