well technically they are not in charge of the bike so therefore they are only a “passenger” so I think you would be ok i fail to see how the police could pull you up as long as you are ok…
same as being the drunk paasenger in car…not a problem.
however i would consider
the actions of that person if youre stopped by the police as drunks wind coppers up sometimes and they may pay more attention to you and your bike or your mate gets nicked for drunk and dis or something else.
the effect a drunk pillion may have on your riding, you may not be able to rely on them behaving as they normally would.
but a mate whos had a few beers shouldnt be a problem.
If car passengers used to start mucking about and leaning out of the windows and say, grab hands over the roof of the car,it was the driver who would be done for “carrying passengers to the danger”,I could hazard that you would be responsible for your passenger/pillion in the same way, especially if they were incapable of sensible thoughts and actions.
Well, for starters you DON’T want a drunk on the back of the bike, having a few drinks is one thing but drunk is a whole new ball game.
There is no specific offence against the rider so you can do it if you so wish, but if the sh*t hits the fan and an accident occurs then the state of the pillion WILL be taken into account and the decision you made to carry that person KNOWINGLY will impact on a decision to prosecute.
Dunno, I have taken the missus pretty wasted pillion. Drunkards on the bike are bloody annoying! Their lid constantly bashing into yours when you get on the brakes, moving around etc… the missus is light but I am sure a big drunk mate would be a problem on me little 600 !..
