Pinlock Inserts

Ok, got the new lid, a nice new RX7-GP which has an apparently new I-Type visor.

Just like most new lids, it came with the pinlock pins already on the visor now here is the problem …
it seems that an I-type Pinlock insert is rarer than rocking horse poo !!

I’ve searched the t’internet and had no luck so far, if anyone knows where I can get hold of one and
points me in the right direction it would be appreciated !!

is that the new Pinlock max vision ??

If you bought the helmet new, it should come with an insert.

If I were you, I’d ask the shop/ seller you bought it from.

Some idiot bought a new Arai and didn’t look in the box for the pinlock insert !!! :Whistling:

Err, found it now !!!

Ooops:D

How does the GP feel, is it any quieter than a cheaper Arai?

oh my god…and they let you loose with a car and a gun…

Haha

I hope you’re house searching is better than your box searching Baz;)

Can’t really say yet mate, not been for a proper proper ride with it on, so unsure about the noise as yet. I it very very comfortable, my old Arai was an Astro R and this one does feel better than that but not so sure thats just because it’s brand new.All round vision is definately improved though.Joe and Chunky … I know, I know !! Can’t be perfect all the time !!! :stuck_out_tongue:

I know what ya meam mate;)Are you having this lid painted like your last one?

No mate I’m going to leave this one. Got the RX7-GP Okado replica - not that I’m a huge fan of racing but really love that paint scheme.

I’d keep looking if I were you. They dont seem to last too long!

Yeah, why is that.

On the whole Pinlock seems like a good idea and it works…for about a week, and then the visor fogs up as normal…

Well not as normal, it starts fogging up as blots in random spots around the visor.

Annoying.

That never happened with my last one.
Yeah, it did fog up on the surround of the visor but not where the pinlock insert was.

Will see how this one goes.

never happened to mine either and i have had it for 2 yrs now… it may need cleaning and/or reseting every now and then but thats it.

Afro what lid was this?

Happened on my old Shoei Raid II and also on my current Shoei XR 1000.

There’s instructions about twisting the pins to make a tighter seal but it doesn’t seem to work for me

The trick I use is to adjust the pins and then see if I can get a sheet of A4 between the visor and the pinlock insert, you just fiddle with them until the bottom part seems flush to the visor… But you do have to do it over and over as the pins seem to move.

The pinlocks are designed to absorb moisture - that’s how the visor stays clear. Obviously they can only absorb so much so they need to be cleaned and put back in every now and again - depends how often you use it and how often the vents in the helmet are open when you do.

Sorry to be the boffin, but when you got a good seal, make sure it is clean and fresh… the good thing is you can do that as often as you think you need to and it only takes seconds to do it.

Still a great system though and with the yellow, orange and tinted ones available keeps you legal and safe instead of the whole tinted visor debate thingy that’ll probably never really go away.

why did i always think they create a seal of air that didnt let moisture in… :ermm:

mine works real well, i had to adjust the little pegs to get a good seal…

Tiwsted the peg on my clear visor and it broke, my only complaint…

While we’re on the subject, has anyone used one of the new ones that changes with the light?
