Has anyone any good ideas of places out of town for a picnic without loads of people milling around?
Not many places like that now unless you’re prepared to walk more than 30mins from any parking places.
some of the more remote areas of Frensham Ponds is worth a visit but the main areas can get very busy.
Which side of town?
Near me (surrey hills ish), as a rule, if you’re near a car park, it’s going to be busy. I am endlessly surprised by how willing people are to drive 30 minutes to go for a walk that never gets more than 15 minutes from the car park.
If you have a bit of off road capability with your bike then it opens up quite a few lanes further from roads/car parks
