Got 160 bottles of wine, saving about £2 / bottle, plus fags and other drink.
Anyway coming off the ferry at Dover we get behind a lorry that is piled very high with something. Whatever he had was wrapped in black wrapping.
As he’s going up and left it looks like he’s going to topple over. Anyway he goes one way and we go another to go through the queue with Customs & Excise.
He must have gone straight through as we caught him up on the A2 out of Dover.
Got my mate to phone 999 and explain all. As the road goes in to a dual carriageway I sped up so that we could read the numberplate.
4 letters and 2 numbers underneath. The 2 numbers were nicely smudged with something making it impossible to read with a camera. Still we could read it and passed it on.
Hopefully the boys in blue sent a patrol car as this thing was so dangerous. I have NEVER seen anything anywhere near as bad as this.
Why don’t we have spotters at the Channel ports to stop the foreign drivers getting on to our roads.
Am I being biased in thinking a higher percentage of foreign lorries are worse than our own?
There dangerous fullstop being left hand drive, turning rights and so on. Also not to unusual to see one going up the M1/M40 watching a DVD on a laptop. I don’t understand why you said the truck was so dangerous? Was it a flat-bed (with no sides or roof) Was is a rigid or artic?. The General height allowance through out Western Europe(apart from Uk&Ire) is 13ft 4in. No height limit here. In Royal Mail their Trailers are 16ft 2in. Motorway bridges here are at least 5meters (16ft 6in).

We should ban all trucks from Europe AND not be allowed to send our right hand drive trucks to Europe - makes total sense to me;) LHD? No good- get rid of them and make Europe drive as we say… just like the good old days:D FFS!!!
driving rhd trucks on the continent aint so bad, i dont think lhd trucks over here is so dangerous, some of these continental type blokes have probably done more miles over here than some of us ! also what with all that euro subsidy for small continentaltype business most of these eastern trucks are newer and nicer than our own overtaxed hauliers, meaning they often have a shitload of mirrors, mirrors on trucks are bluddy massive, no excuses. apparently cyclists can be an exception along with anything inanimate that in my (small overtaxed rhd mirror) view is in the way.

I agree with you on this. Driven LHD in the UK and RHD on the Continent. Sometimes can be a bit of hassle overtaking on back roads but that’s it… You don’t have to drive a LHD to drive like a tw+t;)
