Why not do the training and skip the test?
If you did that, by the time you got up to test standard, you’d prolly just bite the bullet!![]()
I think very few people do it for the piece of paper you get when you do your test, but most’s motivation is to become a better rider. Because of that it doesn’t feel like training or test at all. The ORs I’ve been on so far have just been fairly pleasant rides (apart from that bit of M25 in what felt like a monsoon rain storm) with a nice person commenting on your riding in a positive sort of way. I found the first one tough because there was a lot to take in, but if you’ve been riding for longer, I assume it’s easier.
And roadcraft really isn’t as bad as people make it out to be. I find myself reading specific sections as a reference before and after rides.
