Ive got two mbikes and am just moving off herne hill by kings college.
We have no garages attached to our estate so its £27 a week to rent one nearby (otherwise it would have been 18pw as per southwarks parking website).
They just put yellow lines on our road and the cars are taking the remaining space. The leasehold says I cant ‘park any vechile on the building premises’ and the bicycle racks are on the pavement so i would block it with the mbikes. I wrote to Southwark Council to ask for them to create some motorcycle spaces as there are none i know of in Denmark Hill. They wrote back to say that that wasnt part of their current parking projects and nor could they include this within future ones (read red tape plus too much expense).
Any idea what I could do (haha and who will be the smart alec who says ‘move out’)
I live in ED and Southwark has never been the best at providing parking for bikes in most of the borough.
My mate used to live at the top of Dog Kennel Hill and parked on the the pavement, but that was a few years ago. There is bike parking at Kings College but it’s normally packed out and you’ll need a decent lock too!
I would say a garage is the best bet, maybe see if a fellow biker is nearby and wants to share?
If you don’t live far from Kings collage hospital ,put your bike there. There is free masive parking space in hispital area.They even have ground anchors to. Not ideal but might work
Thanks folks, kings college is a great temporary idea.and then ill have a look re garage. Or make an agreement with the tenants association that i put an anchor down outside the flats off road… many thanks for your help!
Ahhh! I parked it near my flat over the holidays and it has gone over on its side twice in one week. Currently sideways obstructing a pavement. :crying: I guess £27 a week for a garage is the way out now. Anyone local wants to share?
