im just about to book my thorey test and looking at the test center in croydon but cant see anywer to park near is does any one know if they have on site parking or somewer in croydon not to far away thats safe to park a bike ill have my huge chain and alarm disk lock to
alders car park wellsley rd…have a bike bit with security cams
Assuming the test centre is in the centre of Croydon then the Allders car park’s fine, just be aware it’s not free.
There is however a free bay just to the right of the entrance to the car park - before you go in, on the pavement - the downside being it’s open to the elements and there’s nothing for you to chain your bike to. I’ve used it on numerous occasions, and had no problems so far, but I wouldn’t recommend it if yours is the kind of bike that thieves target. I guess a DTR125 would fall into that bracket. So scrap that advice lol.
A fun place to park is at the Centrale because you get to go up a circular ramp for about 3 or 4 rotations and you get dizzy by the time you get to the top. It’s free, however there are only about two spaces (on your left as you enter) so unless you get there early it might be used up by the time you get there. The ramp’s fun though.
Another secure (but you have to pay) car park is this one - there is usually space there, so worth considering if you don’t get into the Allders one. And it has things to chain your bike up to.
Good luck with the test!
The test centre isn’t in the centre of croydon its in a more residential bit, youd be looking at a 20/30 mins walk from the central car parks. I would suggest ringing them to see if you can park at the centre. It’s not in a particularly great area so wouldnt advise leaving it on the street.
sorry i just realised you said ‘theory test’ i thought you were on about the test centre site for the practical so scrap that, it is quite near the central car parks.
there is also a car park near west croydon train station that is free and has about 6 bays each with a ground anchor in the floor, but that area isnt great.
im still stuck what to do i hate being so far away from my bike lol and walking im debaiting rideing that extra 3 miles to southwark as i know theres a bit out side i can chain upto and its right under the window part
or get the tube?
why would i get the tube when i can ride there and i dont even know wer my local tube station is
There’s no tube in Croydon. Where is your test centre? If it’s on/near George St (same as the car theory test) there used to be a small bike park just by the Clocktower cinema.
There are also spaces in the NCP car park up between the Fairfield Halls and the courts. Down the ramp, round the barriers, and just to the right there is room for about a dozen or so bikes. I used it every day when I was on jury service and had no trouble there.
Unless they have moved the theory test place as he said it is on George Street so you just park for free in the m/c bay in the road that slices through the St.Georges Walk (ex)-shopping mall and it’s a two minute walk. I always park there and never had any problems.
Good luck with the test.
