Parking in Balham

I’m looking to move to Balham and just trying to work out what parking is like if I don’t end up somewhere with off road space / a marked bike bay near.

I’ve heard from a couple of people that if you park sideways (ie nose or rear into kerb and not taking up a whole space) that you can park free - does anyone know if this is the case. Obviously wouldn’t be ideal, but good to know!

Cheers,
James

Check the parking restrictings for that borough…

Wandsworth if I remember rightly…

If you know the postcode where you’re living, you can search for bays here:

It depends where in Balham - for cars if it’s near the tube or rail station then it’s resident’s only generally, but if not there are roads with free parking. Saturdays and sundays are generally free all over for cars and bikes, but there do seem to be quite a few free motorbike bays around from what I have seen, in many roads. (I go to Balham fairly regulalry as I live nearby in Streatham Hill). You should be okay there I reckon.

Cheers guys!

You can park in residents bays (and pretty much anywhere actually) in wandsworth - there are a few residential streets with dedicated bike bays too, my road used to have a bay with a rail to chain the bike to as well.

According to Parking For Bikes ( http://www.parkingforbikes.com//boroughs/boroughs/wandsworth ) you can park anywhere you want in Wandsworth, but go on the Wandsworth council website and see what they say.

Wandsworth is pretty bike friendly as far as parking goes. Stray into Lambeth and things get worse very quickly.
