what the hell is this standard charge the add on. i understand that you have to pay VAT but they charge us for paying it in advance. what a rip off. I have no contract of any type with PF and they therefore have no right to impose a standard charge on me. The law does state that the Post Office has such a right .not private courier companies. Think about it, they could levy any charge they wanted if this was the case and you’d have to pay it just think how much they earn adding this on. they have a agrement with USPS in the state so everything sent will be picked up by PF & a charge is incurred. NICE LITTLE SET UP THEY GOT;)
aLSO WHT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THESE PDQ MACHINES?
i refuse to sign their PDQ machines, you do not know what you are signing for and in theory they can use that electronic signature to post against anything, they tried to force me to sign the machine for the goods trying to take it away again saying I had refused to sign. I said, I am willing to sign a peice of paper and if you take my property away, which I have paid for, and have a receipt for, and has my name and address on, and is on my property, I WILL CALL THE POLICE AND REPORT YOU FOR THEFT. Then they said I could sign for it on a peice of paper as normal. When I phoned parcel force, and I could only get through after being tranfered by Royal Mail, the guy on the end, tried to argue that the goods are not my property until signed for. I said I paid for it, I have a receipt for it and it has my name and address on. It is my property, you are just a postal service (thats why you can be sued if you loose or damage it). Luckily I had held onto the parcel and would not let the guy go back to the van with it to check with his boss, otherwise I am sure they would have taken it and tried to force me to sign the machine.
Start challenging these PDQ machines now, why do you think for your bank card you use a digit code and don’t just sign a PDQ machine!. Once the have a computerised copy of your signature and you agree to that authorisation, it can be copied to anything
ALSO A Global Express 3 - 5 days has turned into 2 weeks.
the hand held devices don’t pick up my signature properly… just comes up as a scribble.
You should panic the same for paper copies. Scanners are cheap and it can easily be computerised.
You can NOT report them for theft. As they are not stealing it. They are following procedures to ensure they do not get sued for lost items. These would form part of the terms and conditions of use of their service.
However, whenever I sign for things that are not legal and not forming part of my identity… I just as ‘micky mouse’
Its great when then walk away and realise when its too late! lol!
Well speaking personally I’ve lost all faith in Royal Mail to actually achieve anything, consequently when the bunch of lazy incompetent uckwits ever actually bother to turn up & deliver something, I’m in such a state of shock that I’ll sign anything…
These machines probably push the signature back to Base so the procudure for billing the sender takes place electroniclly or send them a confirmation of Item Delivered. I can’t see how the driver could copy your signature or use it without great hassle to them. Also Parceforce are vetted for a criminal past. Other delivery company’s can carry out criminal check too but few do. Parcelforce, I found are half the price of other delivery companies. Their also part of Royal Mail so subject to conditions set out by the Regulator re; What they can and can’t charge to protect the public from being ripped off. You can contact them via their www. I had the address on my old phone for complaints Alan Layton in Old street, can’t remember the rest.
I sign as Donald Duck (well it looks like a ducks waddle) signature is a mess and the reader sees it as a mess.
Royal Mail have an item of mine that was posted 1st Class last Monday. Still not here. I paid £7 for that to get to me on Tuesday, nope, still not here. New clutch slave cylinder, fortunately not for my bike, but a friend, who can cycle to work. Still an inconvenience.
Letters to Solicitors by return envelope (allegedly 1st Class) still not arrived, posted mid October! Absolutely shocking. My local postie and Parcelforce driver are both cracking blokes though and will endevour to come at a time they know my wife will be in for deliveries. (no wolf whistles or jibes please) Courtesty gets you a long way, but it is time Parcelforce/RoyalMail sorted them selves out!
