OxFoRd StOrMeX - guys what is your quick-est way to put on and take off the cover PLEASE?

HI GUYS -

Trying to find the quickest way to put on and take off the cover off my Triumph Street Triple
Any tips :)?

Thanks:)

M.

I have the same bike and the same cover.
I pick up the cover and throw it over the bike when standing behind it, so that the front of the cover catches on the mirrors.
Then you pull the back of the cover over the rear wheel and move around to the front and pull it down over the front wheel.
It will catch on the rear footrests about 50% of the time.

I have the same cover and a CBR600. I put i over the front first and pull it over the back. Always catch the foot rests!

I have questions though, had the cover since april and it’s faded a lot on one side (side against the sun) and some of the tape for the seems have come off.
How is your covers holding up?

Bit like making the bed I guess…:doze:

Same- the tape is coming off and it has faded.
Still waterproof-ish though.

Thanks guys
I start from the mirrors when covering the bike then it all goes by itself…
And when taking off starting from the back… to one mirror and then the other mirror…
Just trying to get my fastest technique
Also, when bike is wet ager riding is it worth to cover it anyway ? Or better to let rain rinse the mood and do the quick shitty wash ?
or still cover the bike no matter how wet it is ?
My cover is still good, tight, and waterproof - seems like great tent for the bike  Not a single drop of a rain on the bike
That was the whole idea of getting it - and it works

I cover my bike in ACF50 during the winter so I just cover it after I’ve ridden it (and it has cooled down).
If you don’t have ACF50 on during the winter then be prepared to do a lot of cleaning or embrace the rust.

I try to figure out which way round it is first. The bit with the ears goes at the front (if you own a Stormex you’ll know what that means). then I’d place it over the nose and tail and then work my way round pulling it down over the indicators and foot rests. Then I’d lock it to the rear wheel with a chain that also went through a ground anchor and lock it to the front wheel with a D lock. Don’t worry if it feels like a ball ache to put on and take off, it’s a design characteristic.

Mine faded badly after being out in the sun which didn’t seem to affect performance. A tramp (or some scrote) tried to remove it once and ripped one of the locking loops but it didn’t yield. That is an issue with these because they are waterproof and cosy tramps steal them so make sure it’s locked down. I’ve not had any issues with the tape. It always kept the bike clean and bone dry, still works fine.

same cover, same bike… start at the front, one side, back, finish on the other side… +1 to the acf treatment… i normally do it myself but this year i took it to the allyearbiker guys, and i am quite pleased with the result

Cover your bike with AFC-50 then stand next to it when you fire it up and try to stay conscious.

If you want to spend time cleaning the bike after riding in the rain, you’ll probably end up spending all your time cleaning.

+1 on ACF50

Use your hands, that tends to help a lot and saves time  DUUH

Nah seriously, I always tend to do it with the wind on my back (when possible), so it inflates and falls nicely over the bike, and then I just pull it down a bit and adjust.

I can confirm that remembering you left your cover off and attempting it after a bottle of wine is definitely not the fastest way.

Unlikely to be the fastest, but this is my way with the same cover:

  1. Front of the cover over the mirrors.
  2. Back over the tail light.
  3. Front over the front wheel.
  4. Back over the rear wheel (while holding the cover as wide as possible so as not to get caught on the silencer or rear pegs).

After using it daily for about 2 years most of the tape has come off the seams, but the cover is till very much usable and almost completely waterproof.
