I wasn’t in work today because I’ve been feeling really run down this week. It came to a head today, probably after the cold weather last night …and I woke up feeling like crap so called in sick.
Started to feel a bit better so went outside and de-faired my R1 for a much needed wash (which I’ve put off till tomorrow). I rode the bike naked (the bike…think of my cold :w00t: ), doing u turns in the road and its amazing how much lighter it feels without bodywork.
Anyway, went back indoors and started feeling crap again…Sore throat…Runny nose…Cough…You know the deal
Went upstairs and was contemplating going to bed when out of the corner of my eye I spied my half drunk (that’s a modest estimation - eug) bottle of ‘Wray and Nephew White Overproof Rum - Full Strengh Guaranteed’…Indeed
As I was sucking on a blackcurrant Tune (which I instantly imagined would make a nice mixer), I poured a cap full of the 63 % volume alcohol and necked it.
After the intense burning sensation in my throat, coupled with my eyes going from Homer Simpson semi open to fully open…I realised my throat was no longer sore and I actually felt pretty good…I’m actually smiling writing this whilst looking at the bottle on the floor.
#1 Many years ago in my youth I went to see the Varsity match at Twickenham. I drank far too much for my age, but later in the evening when I should have been compos mentis I realised I had a rather high temperature. my Dad who had also (unknownst to me) had also been at the match and was in a similar optomistic condition - he produced a pint pewter tankard full of Whisky Mac and told me that was the cure.
A week later I came to consciouness and was well again…
#2 In Normandy they say - put a hat at the end of the bed. Sip Calvados until you see two hats. When you wake up you will be better…
Ive got some pure Jamaican rum at home which my friend brings over every time he visits his mum, its great stuff and better than any medicine and i like it with a bit of milk in it.
I’m sure it would take you quite a bit of practice to end up in this state;)I love the fact he’s been attacked by the post-it stickers:DHope you feel better soon babe:cool:
