Just got my new Organ Donor Card through the post, filled it out, and put it in my wallet… Should the worst happen, at least I can be salvaged for parts :smiley:

there’s a few ways of doing it without carrying an extra card.

my driving license shows organ donor, so does my boots advantage card.

but agree unless there’s a religious reason or there’s a problem with your organs, you don’t need them when your gone, let someone else make some use of them

And make sure your family know you want to be a donor because it can make a really upsetting situation worse for them.

There are several problems with the current donor system. Although I would like to participate:

  1. Despite the donor card and consent, it can be over ruled by your family after you death.
  2. It is certain few organs or complete donation. The complete donation does include donating you body for medical research or any number of things.

I have no problem with any parts being used for transplant to help another person, but I do not want a company to use my body to help research something that would be used to profit from.

There needs to be more options and a better public debate about organ donation.
