One piece leathers for the lanky among us

So I have finally taken the plunge and purchased my first sports bike (a Ducati 848) and figure that my daily commuting gear isn’t really up to the job of protecting me (especially as I am hoping to do a track day some time soon).

Problem is that I have now tried on a number of one piece suits and they just about scrape past my elbows and knees; I am 6"3’ but all the same, there must be someone who caters for me.

So I would be grateful for any suggestions of either:

off the peg manufacturers who do “long” suits; ormade to measure manufacturers (and if anyone has a view, whether it is worthwhile travelling all the way to Devon and paying £1.5k-£2k for a BKS suit - and how long would you expect it to last?)Thanks

Welcome to LBNice choice of first Sports Bike chap :DYou will more than likely find off the peg suits will be too short in both the leg and arms, its just teh way they are unfortunately.Options are to go for made to measure for sure or alternatively you could buy a decent suit and have our very own Mistress of the Needle “Wasp” to look at them and adjust to suit, it may work out cheaper.I have a friend who has a set of BKS and they are extremely good, just depends what your budget is, and you get to have them made in the style of your choice. As for how long will they last, well that depends on how often you fall off

I’m 6’3" and didn’t have any problems getting one, just walked into J&S and hey presto. Mine’s Dianese and was about 500 quid. I’m the sort with long legs rather than long body if you know what I mean. Make sure you try it on and it’s relatively comfy whilst sitting down. A friend of mine (6’4") bought one and they told him “tight’s really good, it’ll give plenty as it’s leather”. He’s worn it many times and can still barely breath and needs to lie down to get the zip done up!

Not a problem I have. Quite the reverse infact :Whistling:

Harpers in Southend do made to measure Wolf leathers for a very reasonble price. I crash tested my suit and it more than held up! They also have a shop in Forest Gate.

crowtree leathers… best made to measure suits in terms of value - base model approx £450…

But if can wait - got the bmf show coming up - go to peterborough for that - pick up suits for peanuts… i have got a few suits form there… one £300 down to £30… the other £600 down to £150. Would def recommend.

seems like crowtree are no more from their internet site so looks like my choices are either wolf or BKS.

If you’re looking for local made to measure then there’s also Hideout in Essex - Saffron Walden

Thanks will be looking into these after next week
