It’s nearly 3.30am and I’ve just got in from meeting most of you at the Ace and Poppins. Great to see you all again and meet some of you for the first time. I had a good laugh trying to keep up with you enroute.
Right now though, I’m bawling my eyes out like a little baby. I got horribly lost on the way home and had no one I could call to come and help me. The two LB’ers numbers I did have were long home and I couldn’t call them at 2am as I’m driving in circles around ******* central London. Ended up in SW1 at one point. I was lost, scared and really emotional. I made stupid riding mistakes… the A1m was a blur.
Why isn’t there a number of someone ‘on duty’ we can ring for help when we are out on these things? Steve and I really needed that help last Saturday when we got stranded in London. Makes me wonder why we bothered helping a LB’er out when we ended up shafted?
Right I’m going to bed now. I walked in and blubbed in the arms of my babysitter who will probably never sit for me again. Night all x
You got home long before most of us, where did you get to ? We ended up at Clapham tea hut. You don’t have a map under your seat do you ? Might be a good idea to get one ;)
Yeah, defo get A-Z or start saving for sat nav. Try writing down a simple map and directions before you go - I find that I get lost in London when I don’t know where places are in relation to each other.
So if I’m going to Dulwich for example, I’ll note down the places around it that I reckon the sign posts will point at. That way I know if I’m heading the right or wrong way.
But at 2am in the morning, it’s a bit scary non-the-less.
well you need an a to z, i cant see anyone here wanting to be called up at 2am in the morning for directions, especially if they are in bed!, or invest in a sat nav…
Sounds like you need someone to hold your hand… at your age I’d have thought if you’re going somewhere unfamiliar then it’s wise to take a map of some sort or at least a print out of the area you intend going to. I’m crap with directions especially in town (not so good out of it either) so I make a general note of the main roads around that area I can head towards if lost.

fair enough but it was a 3am wibble* Don’t do them very often. I did have a print out and had directions to the Ace. I do have an a-z but stupidly left it at home.
Get what you say about no one wanting to be called at 2am for directions. What I was trying to suggest (badly) was that maybe one of the regulars/hosts who ride out, could have a phone where people who have got lost from the group etc could call. We have stickers, sign written transport and meets -why would a LB host phone not be a valued addition to the rest?
As for the stranded after the stranded. Nah, don’t accept that. It wasn’t our fault and it would have been nice with this huge community on here, we could have called someone. That’s life though right? Just means that until I have more experience and savy I can’t come into London because I can’t get out. It’s ok once you get to the A406, its well sign posted I don’t need anyone to hold my hand but these day, especially with people saying about bike jacking with you on it, would you have felt so good in my place? I had a wibble* I went to bed and now I’m over it. I wasn’t blaming anyone. I beat myself up already thanks and I don’t blame others for my problems.
This idea of the phone isn’t directly from last night, it was something I had been thinking about for a while. With people having accidents etc and all the support we give them in the forums, that maybe the third phonecall they make is to LB. Just an idea. LB can do amazing things, this you have proved to me over and over again… if you think the idea sucks, fair enough - it was just an idea
Awwwww… Bandit babe i feel for ya as i do daft things like that all the time:D i am gonna pm you my hubby’s number later as he works nights on london underground and is ALWAYS awake thru the night and he knows london like the back of yer hand and has said if you ever need help when you get lost to call him and he’ll get you back on the right road home:D
You should do what we done…go out round london on scooters all night apart from being a right laugh you learn where you are lol
this happened after the ride and on her way home, i feel sorry for you and can see where you went wrong because of the diversion with road works that was round the corner as when i went round it had the same problem, think you need to keep an AtoZ with you, also if lost ask someone cab driver, petrol station, policeman [ there was enough of them about last night ] , it would have been no good ringing any of us as we were riding along as well and didnt get home till 4.15am
